here is a video I took yesterday it doesn't show much but it sounds pretty good I think. appoligies for the shakes and the blurs but when I did the auto fix on both it cut out snippets of the video most of which was what little bit you can actually hear of the turbo spoolin

so you're hitting boost now? kinda interesting how it went to positive pressure when the gears changed. what rpm is your threshold?

 

Yeah i think i may have a little vacuum leak and thats a pretty cheap boost gauge that seems to have some catches in it. It starts spooling about 3000 rpms but i am waiting on those new vband to come in and fix the exhaust leak so hopefully when i fix that and the vacuum leak and fine tune it a bit more i can bump the spool down to 2500 or so

its not, its got a lot left in it. I didn't even break 4k rpm and I still have some exhaust leak that I should fix this week. I still have to pull some fuel out past 3 psi and then, then sir, it will seem fast

 

It is technically quick. Relative to the amount of pedal pressure to achieve the same acceleration rate.

 

Are those v-band flanges the style which slide completely over the tubing?

 

I dunno im not plannin on using those flanges since i already have flanges welded on

 

little difference in the quality of the ebay vband clamps and the cxracing calmps truck spools about 400 rpms faster now; did have a little stumble about 85 mph but I still have a little tuning to do. this is 3/4 throttle or maybe just a little more. I put it to the floor after I filmed this and its gonna be pretty fast one of these days.

Little of both. You've definitely got some cool stuff going on here. Never really considered a turbo in these trucks. Looks good from what all I've seen.

 

I'm no pioneer (he is also down here lurking as well) there have been several bumps, and I'm not over all of em yet but I think I can say I'm getting close

 

There is something to be said about doing more than just bolt on mods to these trucks though. Its refreshing to see something unique and see someone do something that doesn't have an exact step by step guide with a pre determined list of parts.

 

Since your leaks are now getting sorted out, you're finding that you were tuning around a problem originally. With a few more refinements of the tune, all leak free, your trim issues should be all ironed out.

400rpm improvement is a heck of a big gain. Should if you find any more leaks, it will only come on more quickly.
