SwayAway RaceRunner Coilover Questions

I have several questions about the SAWs. Forgive me if all these questions have been asked before. I did some searching but didn't see anything specific to my questions.

I just received a set of SAW 2.0 Coilovers from NWOR and noticed that the springs appear to be different from what I've seen pictured at other places online (Wheelers for example). Does anyone know if they have always come with Eibach coils? I've always seen red coils but as you can see from the pics these are not red. One of the part codes printed on the coils would appear to indicate they are 650 lb coils, is that standard for the SAWs?

From looking at the pics, can anyone estimate how much lift they are set for. It would appear that there is a lot more height adjustment that can be dialed in.

I am also curious about the offset of the bushing at the bottom. Does the part that sticks out face towards the front of the truck?

 

I installed my SAW 2.0s not too long ago and my Eibach springs were silver also, was kind of bummed but it still looks nice. I think Eibach stopped making red springs. Mine are 650lb springs which is normal and coilovers are stamped with 11/09 so I know they are fresh (received hem in December 09).

DO NOT ADJUST THEM YET!!! I made that mistake, I adjusting both about 1.25 inches up before I put them on and my front was lifted about 4 inches! I would try put them in like that first then adjust them. They are a bitch and a half to adjust though.

As for the lower bushings, mine didn't matter because I'm 2wd but if yours is 4x4 I think the longer bushing goes rearward, I did that just in case. Mine came with instructions. Lmk if you have more ?s.

 

The 650lb springs are the standard on SAW's. About the red/silver, I wanted silver but got red, someone told me it's kind of a crap shoot, some batches are painted red and some silver.

As for the lift preset I think mine were set with 2.5" of thread showing and it equaled about 2" lift on the truck (3" of thread showing on drivers side to even out the lean). Make sure that when you install them first rotate the adjusting collar so that the allen lock screw is facing outwards so you can loosen it. And as you adjust the collar up/down make sure the screw always ends up where you can get to it. They are a bitch to adjust, just a heads up. The ratio is 2:1 so to lift 1" you'll need to tighten down 2"s of thread. Make sure to take the weight off the wheel you are adjusting, jack up the truck and get that wheel off the ground with no compression, that will make it easier.

As for the offset bushing, I called SAW and they said the long end goes toward the front. I thought I got 2 left shocks but you can easily pry the bushings out if you need to swap sides. It might be reversed on first gens but I highly doubt it.

Lol! I found out the hard way too. I cranked them down a bit after installing but before putting the wheels back on and putting it on the ground. Oopps! too much lift! With 1.5" of thread exposed above the adjuster the truck sat 3+" higher. mine is a 4x4 and the CV angles were way too much.

I've since taken out most of what I added. One side is back down to 1" of thread above the adjuster, the other side is about an 1.125". Its level now, vibrations are gone and near as I can estimate I ended up with about 2.5" higher in front. I'm going to put in the 1" diff drop kit this weekend to see how that helps the CV angles.

 

The silver springs are the newer setup. SAW was having problems with sagging on the red springs, so they switched it up to silver, no it is not just a paint job haha.
