Or a real test on boulders. My wife's Subaru would have performed as well.

ya know...there's something oddly appealing about that...I'm not really sure why, though.

For me the decision is pretty simple because I drive manuals. Toyota and Nissan are the only 2 trucks that really have options for manuals, unless you want to get a very base work truck model from GM. So it was between the Pro 4x and one of the TRDs. The Pro 4x looks like a flash back to 2002 inside. I'm interested to see the upgrades they make in the next redesign but Tacomas just have way too much more going for them. It is more of an experience owning and driving them rather than just "transportation". This coming from a former Jeep wrangler owner who had no problem sticking a key in the door and cranking windows because "my jeep was awesome".

Well at the least the ridgline doesn't suffer from weird autos, diffs don't leak, weak power. Toyotas quality is not the same.

I would vote Tacoma -- just barely though. The Ridgeline tailgate swing and flat rear seats are very cool features though (looks like a car front which is odd).

My choice would be based a LOT on Tow and payload capacity...

It was down to the Ridgeline or Tacoma when I bought my 17 Tacoma.
Deciding factors were the Tacoma bed being deeper for hauling.
I don't like front wheel drive and couldn't bring myself to shell out more for the all wheel drive version.
The rear doors on the Ridgeline were very narrow to get in and out of and maybe fine for kids but tight for adults. The Ridgeline would be nice for around town and if you are only hauling smaller things.
I didn't care for the under bed storage / spare tire either. I could see that being a problem if your hauling dirt or stones or if you had a flat tire and the bed was full. I preferred the Tacoma also because it had a traditional full frame and suspension and is what I think a truck should be. The Ridgeline is nice and Honda builds cars that last but I think I would take them both out and drive them and then decide. I am very happy with my Tacoma.
    Good luck!

I like most of the colors offered. If I had to pin down to just one, Blazing Blue Pearl. Regardless of the problems / recalls the 3rd gen Tacoma have had so far, yeah Tacoma still sells very well and remarkably is still excellent in terms of retaining it's value so thats a big plus.

I posted this somewhere else. Honda limits the RL production in favour of Pilot/MDX and Odyssey on the same line. Their targets are low because they know it's a very niche product. Its kind of like how Toyota isn't interested in selling any more Tundras than 1/7th of what Ford sells with their F-150 trucks.

Tacoma can tow 1400lbs more. However Ridgeline has a much higher payload capacity than Tacoma. Something like 35% more. This is when you compare double cabs.

I think it's a Tacoma, let me go check again...
*Cracks knuckles* Where do I begin?
My Father has a Ridgeline. I can say this with absolute confidence because I have driven that truck for thousands of miles and so have I with my Tacoma. The Tacoma is far superior in every aspect compared to that truck. The Ridgeline has a lot of great features but compared to what the Tacoma is capable of, it's nothing. The turn radius is crap, absolutely horrifying.
