You know ECGS is in Raleigh right? Why not have the shop do it for you?

Funny thing, just Googled it. It's right next to my house. I'm going to be installing my lift myself so I thought I'd do it while I was taking it apart. I might just have them do it.

You wouldn't need to worry about buying or having the the right tools onhand and oil.

From what I've been told their quote for install with parts is cheaper than buying the part and both tools.

This whole time I thought I was in the Raleigh thread posting this. I should pay more attention to what thread I'm on. Called ecgs. $160 for bearing and install. I'm going to let them do it.

Forgive my ignorance, but I have a question.

What’s the deal with the ECGS replacement for precautionary measures?

Is it because they will go bad anyways?

Or is it because of putting a lift on the vehicle?

I’m doing budget friendly lift, and replacement of the ecgs is more expense.
I know the part isn’t much, but I’m sure if I pay to have it and the lift put on it’ll start to add up.

Considered doing the install myself, but as I watch videos on all of it, it starts to seem a little overwhelming.

I’m looking at doing a lift with Billy’s 885 and HS leafs out back.

Thanks for any help, advice, and education on the matter.

No guarantee your needle bearing will go out but many do, both on lifted and none lifted trucks, lift seems to amplify the possibility of failure though.

Since you're taking the suspension apart anyway it's a good idea to go ahead and replace it then. Once lift is installed you shouldn't have to worry about any vibes due to needle bearing wear.

If you don't do it and you pay to have someone install your lift then happen to develope vibes later down the road, you're going to pay someone to take apart the front end, do the bearing then reinstall.

Or do the work yourself this time to save money and bitch why you didn't replace it it in the first place.

Just installed bilstein 5100 set at 0 with ome 887 coils and a Deaver aal from @HeadStrong Off-Road and the clamshell bushing from ecgs. Took me all day to do, but this was the first lift I've done myself. Rides smooth and handles well. I took measurements in case anyone was interested. I'm sure it will settle a little, I'll take more measurements in a month or so. I also posted a picture of the alignment specs after the lift.

    Before
    Driver front 20 1/2
    Driver rear 21 5/8
    Pass. Front 20 3/4
    Pass. Rear 21 5/8

    After
    Driver front 23 1/8
    Driver rear 23 1/2
    Pass. Front 23 1/8
    Pass rear 23 1/2

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a lift but stuck on what to run in the rear.
    What do you guys recommend?
    Deaver single aal or
    Hs 3 leaf aal?
Both will provide roughly 2" in the rear.

Whats the difference between the two besides the obvious (one has more leaf springs)

Just in case you all were wondering, I'm going with bilstein 5100 w/ 887 springs.

3 leaf is a softer ride if you run around a lot with an empty bed.

People will say the single leaf runs harsher, but I really haven't felt much of a difference yet. Ive gone over speed bumps and pot holes and such. I kind of like have the truck not bounce around a lot. And the single leaf is supposed to help with towing.

Looks great, im looking at doing the same thing.
Quick question, stock ucas? And did you do diff drop or drive shaft spacer etc.?

Im thinking to do 885 coils though with the single aal like yourself. Yours is almost exactly level. I want a little rake

    Thanks!

Thanks for the compliments. I am running stock uca and no other drops or spacers. After the alignment everything is really solid as far as steering. My castor is right around 1. People have told me that a uca will help push my castor to 3ish which is ideal for that set up I guess. But for right now I'm really happy with it. I will be getting some new uca in the future, but I'm happy for now.

Thank you very much! Im in the same boat, Pricewise it works well and hearing good things. Using stock uca makes the lift much more feasible

Yeah with the 885 I would say wait until you get it put on. That's the advice I was given and it worked out. Also, I meant castor not Camber in the last post.

Add a leaf. Just extra leaf springs to add to the stock leaf pack.

What are your measurements after it settled? I’m looking at doing this exact same setup on mine.
