It all depends what you want to hunt bird wise.
An over under would work good for Upland bird hinting, Pheasant, Quail and chukar. Thats depending on what kind of Over under you have.
Semi auto or pumps usually work best for waterfowl hunting. I would suggest a 3" autoloader no shorter the 28" barrel with a IM extended choke tube. Thats what I run. Good shotgun shells go along ways, see what your gun likes. Patter test multiple different loads.
Nice blue bird days ducks like to sit on the open water, you wont get much shooting in on those days usually. Ducks don't like white caps on the water or wind. the shittier the weather the better the hunting tends to be. During the middle of winter when the lakes freeze over find rivers and creeks. waterfowl NEED to have water. During these times in winter I've had best luck on small creeks flowing in to lakes. look for spots where birds WANT to be. I've NEVER used any sort of calls while duck hunting, I've never had an issue getting my limit. Good hunting clothing goes along ways! if you can stay warm and comfy the long you'll want to stay out hunting, if you get wet and cold then the truck and heater are more appealing which you wont get much hunting done from. Try to find someone to go with you, Hunting by yourself more or less sucks, Its more fun with some company... Well unless you're not a peoples person.

    Hope this helps a little

You wouldn't shoot a lot of ducks in the central flyway if you didn't know how to call. A good hail call will turn a group of mallards toward you and get them to at least consider your spread.

Season opens next weekend here. Can't wait!

I would like to learn how to call. But where I live and hunt it doesn't require me to. Every situation is different.

Yup. If I didn't need to call, I certainly wouldn't bother with it! Maybe one day I'll get out to the pacific or Atlantic flyways for some coastal ducks.

I did get to shoot teal in Argentina this summer - that was a blast!! 25 teal a day in beautiful marsh setups.

There could be a hunting forum in your area where you can find people Who are looking for a partner? You can maybe get into a group to go hunting with a guide and ask them questions. Also don't be scare to go alone and learn by yourself. It tooks me a while to get that. If I always wait for someone to go with me I'll probably not go often enough lol and I also noticed that I have a little more success when I go alone because I follow me feelings and not someone else's feelings about a spot and a situation.

Looks good! Wich paint did you used? And also what material is the boat made of? Thinking of painting my fiberglass canoe but I don't really know wich kind of paint to use so it stays for long...

Tested my Carlson Cremator choke today and had success! Glad to have bought it! Got a teal this morning on the water and 2 partridge this afternoon!

Also completely dissassembled my mossberg for the first time to clean it:anonymous: I oil components often but never took it apart. Glad to have done it , it is pretty easy

The rustoleum Camo spray paint. Brown, tan, and the lighter green they make (not olive).

The boat is aluminum. I’d say it will work fine on fiberglass. Anything is going to get dinged/chipped/worn with use. A few coats of flat clear coat would probably help

Painted the gas tank and trolling motor. Made a Camo “hat” for the motor out of a burlap sack. Just need to build the blind on it now.

Super jealous of all you who are already getting to hunt. Another month for me.

Ducks started here on 10-7 and was horribly warm. We are finally starting to see them moving with some cooler weather coming.

8 birds between 2 of us on public land. I only found 1 of my 3 so that was a little disappointing. Mostly green wing teal

    Recommendations please...

Looking to get on a hunt in AR or MO this year. Does anyone have a service they can recommend? I'm not really set on any certain type of hunting. Pits, blinds, timber all welcome.
