I'm just gonna put this out here.

Does anyone know of ball joints that have the same design as OEM? I need new upper and lowers for both sides, a full set of OEM's off of various online OEM toyota stores is around $299 (not to bad) but I was just wondering if anyone had something, similar but cheaper in price.

So far all the lower ball joints I have found 3rd party, have poor castings and have non-machined surfaces where it should definitely be machined. And I have to mention the word turbo to not get kicked out lol

I think the sold by Low Range Off-road are pretty close to oem. They’re branded 555 I believe. Many on here have said good things about them

This place is legit. Can get some really good prices on oem parts. Shipping takes a little longer.

I'm going to jump in and say oem only. Even the oems fail so why risk it. Here is my failure.

Yes, but they only have moog, mas, mevotech etc... All of those brands use the sankei 555 casting, but the issue is they use metal on metal bearing surfaces that aren't polished. And every single rock auto lower ball joint has a rough surface where the bolts and guide pined go through, and its supposed to be machined.

I'm also starting to belive OEM is the only option.

I feel like this has been talked about just a little bit, but the 3rd gen 2.7 is the same motor as the 2nd gen it just has some new function or somethin or another; does anyone know what effect that would have on turboing? Could some 3rd genners be drummed up for the ozboost mani?

I believe the only change to the motor was the addition of dual VVT-i... Which should have no negative effects from going forced induction. It's all in the tune. Vvt-i doesn't affect lift, only duration of the cam. Assuming you can tune it via piggyback or standalone, it's virtually the same. If someone has a 3rd gen, I'd be happy to give dimensions of the turbo manifold for fitment

To me, since its the #4 cylinder, I'm willing to bet on oil starvation.

Thoughts from just observing the pictures?

Trust me when I tell you.

OEM only for LBJ. Uppers I'd go for spc light racing uca's if you can't go uniball.
