Would anyone have a part number for the pic below. It's a cap for the frame drain hole, useful for those who drive in the winter.

Not your standard plug, as it allows water to drain, but shields road salt/sand from getting into the frame.

I pulled it out to spray fluid film up there. The way they lock in, make them a one time use plug. I managed to salvage one, but the other is pretty mangled.

I asked the dealer, they said it was disposable. Not sure I agree with that.

Looks like these should just be left alone. Like they are there to block most ingress but allow drainage?

Vbpiper: I just FF the entire truck. Done it this way for a 15 year old jeep, still rust free today. This stuff works, no question! Be sure to pull the rocker plugs, and all the plugs on the underside. (There are a few that go into the sound insulation.. i sprayed a bit up in there too.) If you pull the storage bins in the back out, you can really access the bed sides.

    Unchained: thank you!

That is correct, as indicated in my post "as it allows water to drain, but shields road salt/sand from getting into the frame."

But to leave them alone when you are rust proofing your frame is a mistake. To do it properly, you pull them, and replace them. The problem is every car mfg today designs things for the purpose of line assembly only.. they don't care about re-assembly. And these shields are designed for one time use. I'm looking to buy several, so when I rust proof each year, I replace it with a new one.

You need one of those hose extensions to spray down into the frame so you don’t need to remove any plugs.

I have a proper gun, assortment of wands.. 360 sprayers, and compressor to support it.... And still would suggest to pull a couple of the frame plugs, especially the high points on the front frame. You can't make the bend without pulling one of them.

I've driven on heavily salted roads all my life, and it may be overly thorough, but my jeep has zero rust (which is completely unheard of if you know jeeps). I even checked into the frame cuz I couldn't believe it myself, and nothing. My goal for this Taco is 20 years minimum!

Vbpiper: I will get you pics of what plugs to pull. (and everything I mention below.) Unfortunately tho, you will break the tabs on them. If you can do it gently enough, only 1-2 tabs on one side will break. I didn't replace them, as they do secure back in reasonably well. I would suggest you coat the inside edges of the caps with a very heavy grease.. when you push them in, the grease will fill the gap between the cap and the frame, preventing salt/sand from getting in.

Don't plug the drain hole tho. No matter what, water will get in, and it needs a place to drain. The goal is to minimize as much water from getting in tho. This is why that gray shield cap I originally asked about is so important.

Regarding the fenders... I didn't pull the over fenders off. I was about too, but found a way to do them from the engine bay. You pull a shield off along the edge. Get your 360 wand in there, and you'll be able to soak the entire front wheel well.

I also pulled the tabs out of the fender liner, and sprayed up inside there. Those tabs aren't fun.. will get a pic on them. They come out when you squeeze them, but has to be the correct angle to get 'em right.

^^Thank you. Always useful info, and have added that to my part number collection.

Fla2smoker got it with 90950-01A24. Dims on the drawing are exact. I will order them this week.

^^ Thankyou for answering the tag.

As promised Vbpiper, here's some pics. I'll do a proper write up with more pics including back end, the next time I spray it, and start a new thread.

Why is everyne do concerned about the plastic plugs? Mist if the time those plugs will get broken off when the truck is lifted on a hoist. The plugs is in the location where the lift arm goes.

    I only see three options
    90950-01987
    90950-01991
    90950-01992
    Depends on the size

If you mean the one in Post # 17, where I said "here's the standard regular clip" ---> it's part 90950-01987, as gunny mentioned.
Further down the frame is 90950-01991, which I don't have a pic of.

Your welcome. If I can help one taco driver out there to prevent his frame from rusting out, I'm happy!

Just as FYI to anyone searching later.. my first post, with the frame hole plug/cap.. 100% certain its part 90950-01A24 as Fla2smoker and gunny said. If you don't drive in a salt belt area, then you likely don't need this plug. But if you do, you may want to think about it. (And the last thing you want to do is entirely plug it.) As far as a hoist goes, yes, it's near where the hoist pad goes, and the lazy mechanic will break the clip. But, with minimal effort, you can fit the lift pad between the plug and the cross member.

I usually prefer to lurk instead of post, but I gotta give you all props for getting this obscure P/N request answered...I googled for days before I found the OP's thread by happenstance and lucky keyword guessing. That piece of plastic isn't listed in ANY of the "general Toyota fastener" sites online. Finally tried "toyota plastic frame blanking plugs" and found the OP by chasing an image.

I tried darn near everything: "tacoma frame plug", "toyota frame plug", "gray plastic frame fastener tacoma", toyota tacoma frame plug, gray plastic toyota, gray plastic tacoma, grey plastic toyota plug, grey plastic tacoma frame plug, jackpoint plug, tacoma jackpoint plastic.

I did ask my local dealership a few weeks back and one of the parts guys told me those are installed to help owners locate jackpoints and also as shipping plugs. In short: Per the dealer, don't worry about them if your truck has them and only about half of the trucks have both or any of them at the time of sale. Also, if you put a jack under one and lift at the jack point, they almost immediately disintegrate in what appears to be a "by design" manner (a lot like the plastic tab in the spare tire crank when you lower it for the first time ever).

Under the assumption that the dealer might just be completely full of BS, I ordered 4 at $2+ change using the part number provided in this thread. Thanks!
