Read the 4x4 Offroad article of a radical 1st gen with an LOL JEEP license plate. Asking for a friend on how one gets king shocks valved so that sway is only slightly noticeable when towing a trailer as the article gave the impression of the Tacoma being a Cadillac on the highway but being butter on the rocks. Not sure if this is bad form but did I miss a re-valving or valving post somewhere in this 2nd gen build page?

If I remember correctly you picked up the new bamf shackle hangers? I'm going to be switching from a shackle flip Andy I'm looking at the bamf ones and the new archive ones. The bamf on are just a super beef stock replacement and th archive ones apparently have The pivot point moved back and lower for better geometry

I don't know a whole bunch about suspension geometry ( which is why I ended up with a shackle flip) but would There be any downsides to going with the different geometry or should I use got back to rock geometry with the bamf one? Just trying to learn as much as I can before spending some monies.

Thank you so much for this. This is exactly the info I was looking for, I think based off of what you said i'all get the bamf one. I will for sure have to change up the shock mount on the axle to get proper droop and bump.

 

Right now nobody knows much about my kit except for me. For instance shackle length plays a role. I offer 4.9" shackles that actually get the spring eye slightly higher than stock = less negative arch. With stock length shackles, we are talking a 1/2" more negative arch with all else stock. Also, you're bumping out with air bumps. If one does not and has a u-bolt flip, that takes up the 1/2". There's going to be a lot of generalizations

It also depends on how flat your spring is. By moving the shackle pivot back with an arched spring, that likely puts the shackle closer to vertical at full bump. Flat springs at ride height, well the shackle will rotate forward slightly at negative arch, but thats not much height difference for the rear spring eye in a vertical measurement.

You were right on when you said "cycling with MY leaf pack", there are significant differences in the leaf pack offerings, like length that affect shackle rotation for overall travel and even spring eye style for how negative a pack goes.
