LED Lighting Conversion

All, I found these guys to very knowledgable and provide a very nice product. I learned a ton watching their videos and ended up purchasing the Supernova V3 Low and High Beams. https://headlightrevolution.com/search-results?q=tacoma

 

I'm overwhelmed with what LED bulbs I should purchase. I have a 2016 Limited and want a good bright (not blue) look.....just natural. ANy suggestions?

Fog Lamps?
cabin lights?
Vanity Mirros?
License Plate Lamps?
Anything else?

 

Check out that link I posted. They have kits for everything and some videos to help educate on light color temps, different bulbs, install steps, etc. You're right, it can be a daunting - so much to choose from out there! ANyway, I just liked what they had to offer - I'm in no way affiliated, just sharing what I found. Good luck!

Just upgraded my interior lights from superbrightleds.com dome lights, cab light, vanity mirrors and tail lights got replaced with LEDs all for around $38 -$35 after shipping. In the pictures you will see the before pics first then the LED bulbs and then the after pics.

 

What is the number for the vanity mirror bulb?

 

Alright, so just replaced the LEDs in the headlights, and the low beam lights recommended in the original post threw next to no light for me. Did I somehow install them wrong? Is it possible the lights need to be aligned in the projector better to throw the light better?

Are there better lights out there than the ones from the OP? The high beams worked great, but the low beams are unusable in my opinion.

You installed them correct. They are just crappy bulbs. They are meant to be used in the fog lights and for mostly a cosmetic effect.

The original post is outdated. And keeps throwing everybody off. There are much better choices that are talked about in the thread.

 

jmar180....Unfortunate that you had to put those bulbs in and find out they are inferior to the newest LED bulbs. Try this one, it is an awesome bulb with excellent light output. It is 6500k, I prefer 6000k, but the light is still very bright and you will notice the difference immediately. In fact, I was out last night, rainy, and on new dark blacktop and did not have any issues with visibility. I chose this style, which is fanless, and it fit the drivers side low beam easier, which is the side that's trickier to fit new bulbs like this. Had it for 2 weeks now, and no issues. Copy and paste the link, hope it works for you. Also, there's another brand called Auxbeam, exactly the same bulb, only $22.99. Liked the bulb, so found these cheaper for my high beams.

I wonder if a mod can either take over the first post, or maybe it's time to un-sticky this post and create a new one. I assumed the stickied posts were intended to be authoritative. I'm sure I'm not the only one to be duped by the OP.

 

I'm a little confused. You said you found some Auxbeam bulbs that are exactly the same bulb and used them in the high beam location. Why didn't you use them in the low beam? Are the ones you linked the ones you use in the low beam?

 

Beamtech was the original bulbs, I purchased them for low beams. I liked them so much, that I went to purchase another set to use for high beams. That's when I saw the Auxbeam, same bulb, looks identical, about $13.00 less, so I picked them up for the high beams. The linked one, is the Beamtech, the ones currently using for low beams, but you can look for the Auxbeam and save a little bit of money.

 

One more thing, installation was finicky with the "blue gasket" on the new bulb, I tried over 5 minutes, and could not get the bulb to line up and go in correctly. Then I remember reading somewhere about using the original bulb's gasket, I swapped them out, and literally went right in, no problem.... just in case you may have an issue with them.

 

I found the Auxbeam you mentioned which are the same bulb you linked. I like the idea of them not having the ballast box. I actually bought these ones last week.



They are going into a '18 Tacoma that I have on order that will arrive in mid Dec. I have these installed in my '12 and they worked very well. The heat sync is removable so hopefully it will fit in the low beam location.

 

I had an 2006 Ford Ranger that I used Cougar Motor LED bulbs a couple of years ago. Bulbs were great, but then during quiet times at night, I can hear the fans from the bulbs coming through my radio speakers. That's the reason why I purposely looked for "fanless", plus it was a tiny bit shorter by measurements, which made it go in at an angle (drivers side) with no issues. I had originally purchased LASFIT Cree LED bulbs, although they were fanless, the large round heatsink in the back, kept it from going in the Drivers side, so that was an issue, I returned them, then I found the Beamtechs. The Beamtechs and Auxbeams is not a full circle heat sink, which made it easy to rotate in and fit without issues. Something to think about. Those G7 bulbs are nice, if the heat sink can be removed for installation, then reattached, you'll be fine. I like bulbs without extra stuff to mount....like the driver in the little black box.

 

I liked what HeadlightRevolution.com was doing, learned a ton and bought their Supernova V3 LED bulbs for the Low & High Beams. Huge increase in lumen output and at 6000k, very nice white light. Highly recommend - they have kits for interior, turns, etc. Very cool.

 

I watched their videos as well but was steered away because they only had better LED for the high beam and OK LED on the low beam. If you wanted to use the Supernova's in the low beam location you would have to remove the headlight assemblies. I also don't put much weight on a review when the reviewer has a vested interest in the product.

 

Not sure what you meant by vested interest, I'm just letting you know what I did. I am in no way affiliated with these guys, just a happy customer. The Supernovas went in easy, no removing headlights.
