lol I wish - maybe if I lived in a state that has more room and less laws. My neighbors are gracious enough to let me use their carport while the replacement 5vz gets prepped - supercharging will happen. My mind and my bank account are being pulled in multiple directions at once lol. For now at least a fresher engine and some goodies going in.

The PO kind of mistreated my truck - I actually was just going to replace the trans because it wasn't shifting well (turns out it was just a poorly installed short shifter), but the guy I bought the replacement trans had the matching engine for a good price. The donor truck was a street queen and my truck was abused as a child so I figured why not put a new ticker in there if it's supposed to be the only truck I need for the next 30 years ;)

    Since August :(

I had a good bit of time off from work, but then I started a new job that's got me working 60+ hours a week with things I have to take care of at home for my university intern program as well. I'm looking at December to have it up and driving.

Same here. Doing my PreRunner swap in December. Been too damn busy - no time to myself.

Luckily I have a nice garage to do it in and a Corolla to drive around while it's sitting on jacks with 0 wheel drive.

    What's getting swapped, anything besides 4x2 -> 4x4?

Think I'll be doing the Tundra brakes and Wheelers SS brake lines while I have the steering knuckles off. I'm going to be taking the bed off so I have more room to work so I'll probably put on the OEM tow hitch too.

It'll be easier to do the wiring for the transfer case position sensors with the bed off too. I'm being extra and joining the sensors and utilizing the unused ABS and RR DIFF LOCK lights on my cluster to indicate 4HI and 4LO.

Hell if I have the money and time might throw a Bilstein 5100 lift on and some new Deaver leaf springs. My new tires rub the frame at full lock so it's high time I got one.

I've basically been hoarding Tacoma parts in my house for the past year looking for time to install everything, lol.

Not kidding about the hoarding either.

    IMG_4535.jpg IMG_4529.jpg IMG_4532.jpg IMG_4782.jpg

My old set of tires/wheels are for sale, by the way if anyone wants em.

If you take a close look at my welder, you'll notice Im using an old '95 bucket seatback metal frame as my welding table.

Good caches. I definitely have 2 extra doors, sideview mirrors, extra front seats, headers, and a rear window in my bedroom which is too messy to photograph atm. My camper shell is housing an extra front diff, rear axle, extra set of engine accessories from the donor truck, and almost my entire interior is sitting on top of those things. My cab is full of random parts, I have a complete disassembled engine that had a blown head gasket, my old engine, the donor, and two trannies. What else... oh yeah my spare tire that won't fit under my bed, a spare engine wiring harness from the donor, and some extra 2nd gen spindles I need to put on the burrito so I can take the gusseted ones off and reinstall my sway bar. If I could only freeze time and get my projects done lol.

    Here's 1/4 of my caches:

With 4x4 and a new suspension front and back your truck would be a whole new beast!

    Stuff. Also things.
The big one is rear shock relocation and frame reinforcement. Probably pull the RTT, bed rack and bed for all of that.

After that is the dual battery setup and OBA.

Hopefully, work plays nice and I can at least get the suspension and frame work done.

Thanks man! It's been alot of work but this truck was worth saving cause everything was pretty cherry except for the frame, and even that wasn't nearly as bad as some I've seen. It was going to be parted out and that would've been a shame, so another old taco has been saved.

I did get the cab back on yesterday. Should of had a helper, it was tough setting it down and lining everything up mainly things like the transfer case shifter and the steering shaft, but in the end I got it all ok. Going back to the shop later today to get the underside buttoned up while it's on the lift side of my shop cause I need that lift for work tomorrow.

Lift won't keep the rubing on the frame from happening. That's a wheel offset issue. Not surprised with the 3rd Gen wheels are they are more inset than 1st Gen wheels like 2nd Gen wheels. Need wheel spacers. And they you'll be rubbing at the pinch weld most likely and have to trim.

Oh yeah I was expecting that. Honestly it's only at absolute full lock I only notice it when parking in tight spaces.

So after a long day at work yesterday I went to start the truck and bam! Nothing.
A slight click and nothing else, after popping the hood and checking the battery for loose connections (just installed the battery tie down a day or two ago), had nothing. Had a co worker give me a jump, after a few seconds it started. So I thought battery.
Got up this morning and went to start the truck and it started on the first try. Was expecting it not to start. Should I change the battery anyway? Or might it be something else? Starter? Fuel pump?

Just found out what's causing the rubbing. I took another look at the wheel well with my flashlight and I noticed a small part of the upper control arm is shiny. It's hitting the UCA at full lock.
