'09 Silver SR5 Prerunner DCSB (sold) Dick Cepek rims, 33” Cooper AT 3’s, 24 in light bar, custom-made hitch step, sport headlights (on SR5 taco), Gator tonneau cover (looking for Best Top soft camper shell), real tree seat covers, weather tech floor liners, 6’ bed mat cut to 5’ (because the 6’ ones were the only ones available, alpine touch screen head unit, alpine 1100w amp powering 2 10” subs, upgraded door speakers (forgotten the brand), Magnaflow exhaust
Has any one added the 110v bed plug to their 05-11 truck. I have an SR5 and to my understanding only the TRD trucks cam with the bed plug. If anyone know if a “how to” that would be great. I have looked and looked and can’t find any one who has do this addition.

IIRC, your truck won't have the wiring, inverter, or anything else pre-installed.
As such, you'll be doing the whole thing from scratch, which is likely why there hasn't been much activity about it.

That what I figured. I was hoping to get all the needed parts from a totaled truck but I might just scratch putting one in the bed and just add one in the cab.

I along with 2 other have Tacoma's with power outlets. It is something that rarely gets used to the point its almost a novelty.

Nothing like a 280HP V6 generator that barely makes enough power to do anything than charge a battery. If you see your self needing to generate 120v power very often I'd look for a small Honda generator

Even 100w is a pretty weak output(think 100w light bulb), neat idea but don't think it's anything close to your 20A wall outlet at home(2400W).

I just carry an inverter and a bunch of spare fuses, probably would do that even if I had the bed plug.

I was mostly thinking of charging phones and thing of that nature when bed camping, and I do have a Honda 2000w generator I take on longer trips just most of the time I can’t fit it anywhere on long roadtrips.

I couldn't even cook rice with that power plug(I tried using a rice cooker on it lol); its useless to even install one if you ain't got one that came with the truck.

I think I’m just ganna but one of the more portable ones off Amazon so I have more that one 12v plug in my truck. Like this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004...r+inverter&dpPl=1&dpID=51XOZ+xBykL&ref=plSrch

Get a good powerful one and wire it right up to the battery; don't get one that plugs into the cigarette lighter thing; I feel the wiring behind it is just too small of a gauge that drawing too much power from it will just burn it up.

I thought I saw somewhere that someone did a mod that allowed more power from it. I can't find it now though. Maybe it was just my wishful thinking.

Yeah that’s what I need to do. It shouldn’t be that hard to install.
I saw one where the guy upgraded the inverted and added both a 12v and 110v outlets for the back seats under the center console. It’s an I idea I had wanted to do but I don’t have the time to take my whole interior apart.

I have a power plug in the bed of my Sport but all I've ever done with it is brag to my friends that I have one.

Yeah I have never used mine either. Everything I would use it for requires too much power. It really is pretty much useless as is.

I think the plug worked out really well for the guys who like to run Christmas lights back there.
