    Like you said it's already talked about in the New England B.S. thread.

    I think this would be thread worthy.
    Too much to sift through in the BS thread.

    Maybe we could ask people to post up their experiences at inspection, see what is actually happening when people go. Maybe change title to did you fail inspection in MA, why?

    Well the tires if they are 3/32nds or below I believe they will fail, if you think about how small a 1/16th of an inch is (2/32nd) then you would see that it is definitely a safety issue for hydroplaning and such. Now, that being said, why the fuck would MA hire the same company that royally fucked up the inspections in the early 2000's (for the emissions testing that was skewed) again??

    It's not just a MA issue. VT is doing the same shit although all of 2017 is supposed to be a "grace" period with their fancy new computer system. They're gonna crack down hard in 2018 and I'll venture to guess that 50% of used cars will get rejected for petty shit. It's going to get worse before it gets better.

    And the thing is, the drivers’ skill is a much bigger factor in safety but its so easy to get a license (at least in Va it is). There are so many people at my school that make me cringe when they drive and It’s a good thing that there is a skilled, defensive driver to avoid them when they fail to yield without looking nearly every day after school.

    This would be nice if this would work both ways, if it would keep places from failing a vehicle on something that is perfectly fine, just to get some money out of the customer.

    That’s the biggest issue, and joke, I have with safety inspections around here. I think when they were first implemented back in the day, it was for a good reason, and I think we should still have them, but there are way too many mechanics and shady places that take advantage of people now.

    My mechanic of 20yrs, lost his inspection license because he tried to help a guy out that had a crack in his windshield. The ford dealer turned him in. So I took my old truck to a local Plaza Tire(scam artists, the one here is anyway) to get an inspection. They failed me on a ball joint and tie rod. The ball joint they failed me on, I just had replaced 6 mos earlier, so right away I knew they were full of shit.

    I told them they weren’t doing my work, and I took it to my regular mechanic. He called me an hour later and told me the tie rod could be replaced, but there was absolutely nothing wrong with the ball joint. I called them back and they gave me some BS about how they already failed me, and the kid they had doing the inspection was “positive” it was bad. So I had to replace a perfectly fine ball joint, to pass inspection. People like that should be shot in the fucking head, I hate that shit.

    That’s the biggest issue I have with inspections, it’s too much of a money scheme. Sorry, I’m not from Ma, and sorry for the rant.

    Oh yeah, and fuck Plaza Tire Too. :brianr:

    :rofl::thumbsup:

    I'm watching intently Rick. Hopefully they back off on something like this and focus on the actual safety hazards that should get a vehicle rejected.
