If you private message me your phone number I can call you and break some things down to you quite simply and a lot shorter than I can type it.

Heres what I found out. Lift is 3"s by Rough Country.

    Front: shocks, spacer
    Rear: blocks

I don't know what all that means but this is it from their site:

If you were just riding on the street not really going off-road that will work fine. Most people on here don’t recommend the spacer lifts. I have seen them fail, along with normal shocks or more expensive set ups also fail. If your budget can go higher I would try to get at least Bilstein 5100 all around for about $350 shipped, then you could run a rear block (also not recommended by most because of axle wrap) so probably have about $425 in parts before labor. The minimum setup people on here approve is bilstein 5100 with add-a-leaf for the rear. For the money this will probably ride and perform the best for the cheapest price. No matter what you decide also include an alignment, otherwise your tires will wear out quickly.

O.K., I am out of my element here but appreciate the guidance immensely as I want to have something I will be happy with and will last.

It sounds like the recommendation is to purchase my own lift kit set – something of better quality and more reliable (such as Bilstein) rather than the rough country kit that includes spacers and blocks. I would then pay labor for the install at the shop.

After searching the World Wide Web it seems there are lots of options from Bilstein. This is where I could use detailed help as I don’t know the lift world well enough to navigate it with confidence when purchasing parts myself. I have searched an insane amount of threads on here (I could be looking in the wrong places) but I don’t see anything specific. Most everything I am reading is simply stating 5100 Bilstein and some measurement of inches in height that was gained after install.

    I found these:
Option 1: https://bilsteinlifts.com/shop/toyo...1-rear-5160-lift-kit-2016-2017-toyota-tacoma/ (not sure if these will even give a 2.5” lift?).

Option 2: https://bilsteinlifts.com/shop/toyo...0-1-lift-rear-shocks-2016-2017-toyota-tacoma/ (also not sure if these will even give a 2.5” lift?).

Is this a good option and if so are there other parts needed or is this everything a shop would need to get the lift done I should be worried about purchasing at the same time? Not looking for monster truck look just a subtle lift. I like the look I’ve seen from those that have had a 2.5” - 3” lift done as the tires I want BFG k02s are not huge (265/70/17). I will be doing mild off roading when hunting and fishing.

I am trying to stay under $1,000 for the lift but am willing to go to $1,500 if I have to with parts & labor. Am also willing to wait till November if these can be had a lot cheaper for a Black Friday sale….not sure if that ever happens?

Thanks again for all the insite and help!

    Getting the truck today.

Got an opportunity to get 285/70/17s Out The Door for $800.00 from the tire shop.

But....I really like the 275/70/17s. Those are gonna be $1016.73 out the door.

    What to do???

Get ready to cut to get those to fit how much will depend on what rims and the offset you get

What would need cut? And this would need to be cut even after a lift?

Here are some specs from the tire shop. Very good info. I was trying to find out how much bigger the 275s & 285s are compared to stock.

So it looks like the 275s are 1.6" taller than stock...and 285s are 2.15" taller than stock.

    I'm leaning towards the 275s.

I'm looking at the Complete Old Man Emu Kit w/Dakar Leaf Pack from HeadStrong Off Road.

    I am hoping to achieve:
    • 2.5" lift
    • Keep "close" to factory rake
    • Fit 275/70/17 tires - no rubbing
Looking for advise from the TW collective -

Whould this set up be sufficient to run the 275/70/17 ko2 tires without concern of Rubbing? Tires will be paired with Full Beast wheels.

I love the ride height and tires are quiet but everything I need for off-Road basics. Didn’t want to compromise road noise for off road use. Good middle ground on these tires.

Those arms look kinda like total chaos, and the coilovers look like they could be fox or ads. Without a closer pic I can’t definitively say

Tell me how it rides compared to stock after the install? My 2017 is pretty smooth and I like it....my 2014 stock was alot more rough.

How high did it end up lifting front and back?

My truck is a Limited, so stock suspension was same as SR/SR5, which would be less stiff than your Sport to start. With the OME suspension, it’s definitely smoother, especially over bumps, but there is no noticeable increase in body roll or dive.
I’ve read from multiple sources that it feels pretty similar to the stock OR.

It lifted very close to 2”, both front and rear, plus about 3/4” from the tires.

Overall, I’m very pleased with the setup.
