I don't have one. I haven't seen a need yet, unless you are really rock crawling. Plus it will make the taco lean worse

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
    Great shots!!!

Think sliders prevented damage to your trucks? Could I make it (without damaging mine) without them?

I dont think its worth it. I have been in some very hairy situations without one with no issues.
Sliders are a top mod in my mind. You can make it without them though assuming you have a 3+" lift. Ask @Me. Projekt

I agree with John. It's not really necessary IMO unless you're into some serious shit. @inesshell is in Oregon and is constantly in the rocks, and I believe he said he only lightly tapped his gas tank skid once.

@TacoCat did your Subaru come with the side dimming mirrors? Mine didn't, but it was an option. Bought them and installed them myself and it was hands down the best $200 I spent on that car. Was driving tonight, praising them and thought of you.

I feel like skids are one of those things that are used so much because they hang so low. @boogie3478 was going through obstacle without touching whereas my hog was scraping everywhere. My feel is that sliders and the front skid will get you through nearly everything.

It all depends IMO. My first trip out in my truck I got hung up on a stump I didn't see, and it was caught between the tranny and transfer case cross member. I was able to wiggle off of it, but if I had skids I could've just slid right over.

John was in a similar boat with his truck. Tried to get over a log, but got high centered. If he had a transfer case skid he could've winched right off it, but he couldn't because he risked smashing up his exhaust there. He only had the front two skids at the time.

yep, tapped it a few times, i honestly wouldnt think too much of a gas skid if you weren't banging on things religiously or tackling double or triple diamond runs here in Oregon or what other hard rating you all have in your states. At that point you would worry about other things besides a gas skid like diff, drive shaft as denting that throws its balance off

this was a run where we needed it as shifting wheels off the ground landed edges of rocks up into weird areas

If you’re coming down on something large enough to get your gas tank, you’ve probably already fucked up. Just think about something that is larger than half your tire and coming up past your axle/tire/etc. Front skids and possibly diff skid is enough for most people/wheeling.

Front steel skids are fairly “necessary” for actual wheeling. Aluminum skids are appealing for weight but skids and sliders are the only place I think you really need them if you’re wheeling with rocks especially.

:notsure: i have no idea, dont recall it even being an option. I know headlights are bright as hell in all my mirrors in the dark being so much lower. The tint will help when that gets done. Its on the 10th. Ill check my paperwork and see id mine has em. I know they are heated, have the blind spot lights, and turn signals.

Do you have an auto dimming main mirror?

Ahhh shit!!! You should definitely look into it and see if it's an option. The main is the master and the two sides act as the slave. It's as simple as popping out the old glass, plugging everything in to the new glass(there's a connector hidden in the back for dimming) and putting the new glass in. Took me 30 minutes and every time I drive at night I think about how handy it is.

I went to an OEM Subaru accessories page and ordered from there. If you can't find it then it's probably not available.

Most of what im finding is outback and forester forums. Still looking. Thanks for the heads up. I would check but its pouring and i doubt i could see if they had the dimming area in them right now.

Yeah my legacy is essentially the same thing as an outback, so that makes sense. If you do go looking for the plug, it's extremely hard to find. Mine was wrapped in black foam tape and really tucked back there.
