what was i thinking?

installed a cheap aftermarket stereo/dvd. sounds so much better than stock. but i thought i would get a little creative with the mounting kit. i thought red would look great with my matching hood. well, it looked better in my mind.

Its really not all that bad... but he tan interior kinda doesn't go with it...

i think i got a little rice in me. never did that stuff when i was younger and i don't want to rice up my other car. so i thought it was worth a shot. yes, i bet it would not look as bad if the interior was the dark gray.

it's not actually painted, it is a vinyl decal. so hopefully i can just remove it without the leaving a sticky residue. i may even return the deck and get a double din deck. screen is so small, it is almost useless. oh well, for $180 you can't ask for too much.

 

Hey you never know til you try. It doesn't look that bad. If it is the black plastic install kit try getting some vinyl spray and match it that way....ya never know...

 

Where can I buy the replacement dash piece to accept the aftermarket DIN electronics?

 

i got mine from ebay. it has a single/double capability. thats is why i got this one, just in case i wanted a double. it is black, not silver like the oem. scorches has a good looking one that is pretty close to stock.

$180? It looks like it is playing a DVD. What brand is it? What else does it do?

 

yes, it is a dvd player. tv tuner (need good ant). mp3, usb, sd card, back up camera viewer, aux input. dupont brand. i'm sure that is just a generic name used by some foreign importer and NOT the famous dupont.

it is not bad, but only a 4 inch screen and it could be a bit brighter if i use this, i would need a rear screen for my boys. but if i get a 7 inch double din, i bet i don't have to fiddle with more screens.

 

Somethin' about it is kinda cool...I appreciate the idea. Now a red taco with black interior...?! maybe.
