Last Friday I headed up to Sedona to see my family and decided to hit a trail. My brother just bought an Xterra last Monday so we decided to go out and see how it did. I was looking for something that the pink jeeps weren't running and found the rail on azfj.org (trail).

It was raining all morning so "The Greasy Spoon" was pretty slick and muddy. Overall we didn't have any problems and we only ran into one other person out there. So if you take a trip up to Sedona this trail should be something you check out.

Here's a couple pictures my brother took while we were out.

Definitely that was only the third time I've taken my truck out on dirt :)

Thanks. It was a lot of fun, I was surprised how well my brothers stock xterra did out there but he was sliding around in the mud quite a bit.

None of the trails in Sedona are too crazy. Here are a couple trails that are in Sedona that are worth checking out. There are a couple more trails up there that I can't find any info on the net but they really aren't worth it. If your looking for cool motel in Sedona to stay in shoot me a PM. Definitely check out the Oak Creek Brewery while your up there, it's pretty pricey but they have some good beer. Hope's this helps, check out the links AZFJ did some pretty good write ups on each trail

Schnebly Rd/Hotloop (Sedona, AZ): This is more like a dirt road but it is really pretty and there are some pretty awesome views of Sedona and the Red Rocks.

Oak Creek Homestead (Sedona, AZ): This is a pretty cool trail but you have to make sure you keep a close eye on directions. Last time I was following my bro and he took us down an offshoot and we wound up coming out by the Highway.

Broken Arrow (Sedona, AZ): This is probably the most popular trail in Sedona. There are TONS of local jeeps on this trail so it kinda makes it a pain. There are some great scenic views on this trail but it is probably the hardest trail due to the traffic and "stairs". This trail has the most probability of undercarriage damage because there are some pretty narly rocks going down the stairs. My bro drug the hitch on his xterra over a couple of the rocks while we were out there.

Goat Peak Trail (Cherry to Cottonwood, AZ)-I haven't had a chance to run this trail yet but I plan on going in the next couple weeks after I graduate.

Hmmm I can't really say when we ran it, it was really slick from the rain. There were some pretty good uphills where I think you would need a 4x4 even if it was dry.

On AZFJ the guy who wrote the review said

"Difficulty 2.5 - As always highly subjective, but I felt the steep incline/decline areas warranted 4x4 a must. My mostly stock FJ had no problems with this trail. My trail armor rubbed a few places I had fun in, but other stock vehicles didn't have any issues with clearance"

Haha always good to bring a 4x4 friend along when possible :). I'm planning on spending a week in Sedona sometime in May to see my family and do some camping. We should definitely try to set something up!
