    A few tweaks
Cross posting from my build thread because let's face it, lots more people here!

    overview.jpg

Worked on a little project this weekend. My fender apron gasket thingies were flapping in the breeze, so I made some new ones.

@alphabravo did some work on a set and has a template online HERE. I had my originals and wanted something closer to factory, so I set out to duplicate and improve upon the factory ones.

This took way longer than I had planned, but they turned out nice. Still waiting on new clips to hold them on. Amazon Prime tomorrow.

I drew in CAD, printed out and tested with some foam underlayment stuff I had from a past home improvement project. After about 5 revisions, I came up with this design and cut it from some rubber sheet I purchased at the hardware store.

These tuck in a little closer than the factory ones did - also extend to where the washer bottle used to be on the passenger side if you have removed and relocated it.

Attached is a zip file with all of the PDFs. You can print to scale on standard letter size paper and tape together to get a template. CAD drawing also attached if you would like to build on my work.

Would love feedback if anyone tries them.

These are really important in the rust belt areas for protecting the engine block and other stuff from getting too much salt water on them. I have seen truck with out these (or insuffecient factory ones) and they really make a difference in rust .....

    Agreed.

I would really like to come up with a set for the rear next. Something needs to keep the junk out of the channel in the bed that is under the wheel well. I also hate how you can see through between the frame and bed. Looks like I have a body lift!

Thank you for this! What product did you end up buying? I wandered around the hardware store and left empty handed

I found some really nice rubber sheet for $3 per sq/ft at the world's coolest hardware store near me - Paul B. Had to go to the parts counter. I bought a 2'x3' sheet which was just big enough for 2.

Not sure it could be found at other hardware stores. McMaster Carr would have something, in researching it I saw people used pond liner and shower liner material (not sure what shower liner is but apparently you can get it at Lowes).

I also saw truck mud flaps mentioned, but not sure they are long enough.

I updated the design today (for those who have downloaded). I finally got around to installing with the new clips I bought, and decided to adjust the location of one of the holes a little.

Here are the clips I used - I had to drill out the holes in the frame slightly for these, but the body holes worked fine.

Just made a set up for my other vehicle. (dodge Durango) I used PVC roofing membrane. Perfect for the application. I did check that it did not get too hot as it is close to the exhaust manifold. Used the exact same clip/button as shown above. 1/4" holes were needed.

I've never seen them on the rear! Are you talking about the inner fender liner plastic piece? These are available online for cheap.
