The spare they gave us is not the one we usually have, and it sounds like it will break down any second

I have one like that, and I've caught squirrels hiding in it from time to time.

Those do look nice (and better than the other kind) - but my stupid mildly OCD brain always thinks of things like "that's a great place for water, snow, debris, etc. to collect and start rot" or "what a great place for a hornet, wasp, bee, bird or squirrel nest".

Funny story from my recent trip. I was exploring down this very narrow Forest road and came across a section that was flooded out by a beaver dam. Turning around would have been very challenging. From my experience, generally these sections of washed out/flooded road are usually the same consistency/material as the non-flooded section. So I walked in some (I wear muck boots) with a stick to check the depth and it didn't seem like it was more than 12" deep. Being a trusted Tacoma owner/driver - across I went. for about 40-60 feet everything was fine, and then my front end dropped some, but only about 4" - I figured this was a stream bed. I kept going slowly and made it across. The water was up to my doors, but no water in my truck.

Now the funny part - coming across the other side where the road did widen a bit I see a lifted Chevy Silverado, we stopped and chatted about hunting and moved on. I looked in my rear view mirror as he approached the same flooded section that I had crossed, paused for a few minutes and low and behold, he turned around and didn't make the crossing. HAHA!!!

    Love it!! Tacoma AF!!
