X2 for sure... don't even compare it with just the radio on because you would not even be able to tell the difference.

Ok so last night I finally finished the install of the drivers side for the Sound Deadening and the speaker install. Took my time with the Noico but overall went much easier after doing the passenger side first. After reading an earlier post, I started to realize how much weight I have added to the truck and it has to be at least 2-300 lbs so far. The speakers and the sound deadening are at least another 40lbs for sure compared to those cheap ass speakers that they had in there. At least now I can listen to my Iphone (otherwise know as my traveling jukebox) with a decent system and not want to just tune out the world. Thanks again @bshammer0 for starting this thread and making me spend another $250 that could have gone into my retirement fund or kids college fund...:annoyed:

I was able to do all 4 doors with one pack and still have 2-1/2 sheets left over. Now I'm going to take out the back behind the seats and put the rest at the back of the cab to see if that reduces any further noise. NOT!

OK, after the tweeter install yesterday and today the 4 doors as OP suggested and many more that followed, I got to say again GOOD BUY! For those on the fence as I was who felt the stock speakers were good enough, I'm glad I took the gamble. I did my truck and my sons truck and when he heard how the new speakers sounded he was glad as well. His description for the sound was "Punchy". Tks OP and TW

Alright I did it on my 2016 SR 5 with the 6inch screen. It seriously sounds amazing!!!!! THANK YOU FOR THIS TACOMA WORLD. The stock speakers always lacked highs. Now it sounds much clearer and the bass still kicks ass! Really stoked on this. Also installed some deadening but I guess I went to heavy on the doors as I barley had enough for 3 doors lol! It sounds good so whatever hahaha

Get two boxes and have some spare if you’re going to do it.

Install the tweeters today but having issue with front door speakers. It seems like the holes in the speakers do not line up properly. Anyone else had similar issues? I was only able to align only 2 holes out of 4.

The backs should line up fine, you do not use the speaker grills that came with the speakers.

Those 6x9 speaker brackets that comes from crutchfield suck big time. The last hole was about 1/2 inch off. You just have to do the best you can. What I did with the last hole was angle the screw into the hole with the tip and pried the screw straight up, this will flex the speaker just enough to get the screw started.

All, I have a new '17 OR that's WITH the JBL system. To be honest, not impressed. It's not horrible, but reading thru this thread I only hear positive comments in the Tweeter and Kicker door swaps. It seems as though most have swapped from non-JBL speakers to these, and I'm posting to see if anyone did this swap from the JBL system and had positive results.

Personally, I don't really hear much coming from the doors. It honestly sounds as though I get everything from the front tweeters and sub, minimal mid-cabin sound presence. I've faded front to rear, played with the treb/mid/bass to try and make it work - but its all pretty lack luster.

So once again, anyone swap our their JBL speakers on this and have comments to share? I might already be in here, just didn't look thru all 50 pages yet. ;)

Your speakers are just fine. I would not replace them but an Amp under the seat would give you that extra kick you are looking for.

Interesting to hear - and really sad you paid for the JBL and it doesn't sound great :(

If you're already getting decent sound from your tweeters, you may just want to try and swap out the 6x9s with the kicker ones in the front doors and then decide if you want to swap the other speakers out. For those of us with stock speakers, the order of importance was:

    Tweeters - I didn't even know I had tweeters for 6 months.
    Front doors
    Rears

Not only these brackets sucks and not align properly with the speakers , but also they are flimsy. I think they will cause rattle noise if not bolted down properly. The hardware that came with the brackets to hold down the speakers isn't best either. I think I will probably end up making new holes and using different hardware to bolt them down.

Look at my posts a couple pages back. Yes the brackets are not perfect and take a bit of finagling. Just get rid of the screws that came with them and use shorter but wider screws and they work just fine. I installed Noico and they are set just fine and do not move or vibrate. What else can you expect for free.
