Brought my truck back to Toyota last week bc the tach and speedometer were sticking and not acting properly. They said it was some sort of computer causing the issue and it could take a week or a month for the part to come in. Just looking to see if anyone else has had this same issue with their trucks?

There seems to be a problem for several 3rd gens for instrument cluster issues. Usually it just gets replaced by the dealer. I think there is a thread here about this issue somewhere.

Yes my SR has been at the dealer for over 2 weeks now waiting for a new cluster to correct the issue, They gave me a 17 corolla for a rental. Hopefully I get it back this week.
The SR cluster seems to have most of the issues from what I have seen.

Yep, my SR has this issue. Waiting to get it taken care of bc I hope toyota will switch suppliers for this part. I know at least 1 person has had their’s replaced and still had the same issue.

The 2017 SR that I traded for my pro also had that issue. Dealership’s problem now. The instrument panel on the pro seems normal.

I'm on my third one, I honestly don't think they know what the root cause of the problem is been talking to serval people on here about it. Mine only does it when it's warmer outside so we'll see if this one works when it warms up. Apparently they reengineered a part in it? Not buying that but whatever

Had the same issue folks. Reported the problem October of last year and was told it could take up to six months to resolve. A week ago I was commuting from Chicago to Indianapolis and the speedometer at a dead stop was registering 25mph. I had enough of the wait to resolve the issue and demanded the service manager contact Toyota corporate, as now it became a safety issue. They gave me a loaner for the week and replaced the cluster but I guess we'll have to wait and see if it comes back. Another interesting thing that happened with this problem was, when the speedometer was malfunctioning I would turn the ignition off and restart and the symptom would transfer to the tachometer. As a mechanic myself if I where to guess or shoot from the hip, I would be looking at a programming problem between the transmission control module (TCM) and the instrument cluster module.

My truck has been at the dealer for 22 days now with the same issue. Getting the run around on arrival of the instrument cluster replacement .. growing very impatient.

Is this specific to auto or manual tranny?

Mine acts up when its warm outside also. Will wait longer in hopes that Toyota can get the correct fix for the issue before I bring it in. Not a big issue yet -- both tach and speedometer a bit notchy.

Oh boy what I would give for a real answer on this issue! I've been on every single thread on this forum and nobody has a definite fix. I've had three different clusters put in and the third one supposedly had a re-engineered part in it to make it function properly? Haven't had the issue since but like most with the problem it only happens when warm, we'll see what happens when warms up. If anyone has any more insight on the matter please let me know! I'm convinced it had something to do with vaccum and air intake as the truck definitely seems to run rougher when said problem occurs.

Day 33 of my truck at the Toyota dealer. They can't get an ETA of the new cluster arriving. Still no estimated repair completion. It's beyond aggravation now.

Just dropped off my 2017 at the dealership this morning with this same speedo problem. The first time it was only a sticky needle during acceleration and decel. It disappeared for a few days. Then came back with a vengeance of not even showing the right speed. Such as showing 34 while I was doing 55. When I came to a red light it was showing negative 2MPH... I'm curious to see how long it will take to get it replaced.

I noticed my 2017 Sport sticking .I just got the truck a few weeks ago.its nothing major but it definitely acts up, (not smooth). Also, not sure how big of a problem this is, but seems the the digital read out and stick can be a little off. For example, while accelerating the digital read out will be 57 but stick will read 55 or 56. Not a biggie for now, but hop it doesn't get worse

My sr cluster just went out. At first I got the CEL for code Po500 for wheel speed sensors. It disabled my cruise control while my CEL was elimulated. It was very intermittent. Once the CEL would shut off I could use my cruise. But when it was activated my speed would decel. (BOTH OF THE CRUISE CONTROL LIGHTS WERE LIT UP AND ACTIVATED).and my odo trip resets frequently when I start my truck on it's own. Took my truck to the dealer and they said my wheel speed sensors were fine. So they looked deeper and went to the gauge cluster or ecm. It's been about 4 months and I've been having to tell the dealer what to look for or else they wouldn't know what to do. beyond frustrated. It's been in and out of the shop 3 times each time they say the CEL won't come back on for them. All they keep doing is clearing the code. My truck won't keep up with traffic 55mph on freeway in 3rd gear. Feels like it misfires. Now finally the cluster failed completely.
