Game lands are different from State forests. Most trails on game lands are no motor vehicle access.
State forests just have restrictions during hunting seasons.

This is from the rules and regulations from the DCNR regarding the state forests.

    "§ 21.114. Motorized off-road vehicles.
    (a) Operating a motorized off-road vehicle is permitted in
    accordance with this section.
    (b) The following are prohibited except with written permission of
    the Department:
    (1) Operating a motorized off-road vehicle on a road, trail or
area that has not been posted as open for motorized off-road vehicles.
    (2) Operating a motorized off-road vehicle on a road, trail or
area that has not been posted as open outside of the following
    periods:
    (i) From the Friday before Memorial Day through the last
    full weekend in September.
(ii) From the day following the last day of the regular or
extended rifle deer season as established by the Game Commission
    through the following April 1.
    (3) Operating or riding a motorized off-road vehicle without
wearing a securely fastened helmet which meets the specifications
established for motorcycle helmets in 67 Pa. Code Chapter 107
    (relating to motorcycle helmets)."

Subway, I'll go with you to Bald Eagle forest, where I ran. Single 5 mile trail. Would have run more, but had to get to my brother's party at our cabin next to these trails.

I don't recall seeing any open trails on game lands around here that weren't chained off. Will be on the lookout though and will share if I find anything. As far as game commish? Never really had any run ins with them but have heard some horror stories. Seems like a "guilty of something until proven innocent" kind of thing.

I fish Assateague and OBX yearly--really looking forward to doing a little driving on the beach and finding some tucked away fishing holes. Also headed down to Georgia after the New Year to hunt hogs--will hopefully be able to put the Taco through its paces.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Game commission is what it is. I've only been stopped while out of my vehicle; twice in the same day by the same warden. And it was just to check licenses. I've had them approach me while on a stand from over 200 yards away...just to check my license. He was concerned when I started following him out of the woods. I told him there was no use in hunting this spot now that he'd walked up through it for an hour. I have found that the deputies are the worst. They aren't paid by the Commonwealth and tend to have a "power trip" type attitude.

They are definitely under staffed for the area they need to cover. It's almost impossible to get a hold of them on a weekend when you need them.

My last PA game commission was last years bear season. Sitting on my tailgate eating a sandwich he wanted to make sure my gun wasn't loaded. Gun was in hard case unloaded. He was very curious as to "what was in the ziploc bag" on the tailgate. I guess he never considered the sandwhich i am holding while talking to him??
