just bought one. I'm currently on a trip all over the South West and fix up my '06 while I'm down here. I bought this 06 dirt cheap after former owner T-boned a mule deer doing over 60 mph. Pretty much everything in front of the engine was crumbled in the center but the wheel wells and fenders were ok for the most part. With parts from Rockauto and some redneck bodywork I had this truck running for $2000 in parts (bought it for 2500)... will be slapping the bumper on during the next few days, need to buy a winch before install but it's too hot here in San Diego right now and so I hide in the shade enjoying cool beers.... back home it's snowing right now... this beer is tasting real good ....:p

Shrockworks may be one to add.
I saw it in the Bumpers thread...

    Greatly appreciate this thread...
I live in a high deer area.
Also, getting ready to retire & will be traveling to a lot of remote areas so looking at bumpers &/or armor to help me be able to keep driving/limping if I hit a deer or other smaller animal.

Interesting to note that Prelfreybilt had most votes, but most of the hits seem to be with ARB bumpers.

    Two questions:
Do you need to beef up front suspension if adding just adding the bumper?
How about if also all adding a winch?

    Thanks

Not sure on suspension. As im still not with bump. Thanks for the thread appriciation! Congratulations on retirement. Pelfrey is prettiest and arb has the crush cans so i think alot of people bought them to lessen actual chassis damage.

It is a good idea. Hanging 200lbs off the front of our trucks on stock suspension will make it sag and not perform as well.

Shit my 104 pounds of subs 50 to 70 lbs of box and 20 lbs of amps makes quite a difference, and thats all behind the front row.

I have the Ironman 2" lift on my truck and it does seem to sag after putting on the bumper. You don't necessarily need to lift, but I would advise adding stiffer springs at the least. OME (owned by ARB) offers replacement springs that you can put on for ~$170. They are sold on here in the classified sections quite regularly from people that want to go higher, so you can find a lightly used set for about $100 usually.

Only the ARB for the first gen has the crush cans...at least that is what I have gathered from reading this thread. My 2nd gen does not have crush cans. I have zero knowledge of the ARB for the 3rd gen.

I will say that ARB has AWESOME customer service. I will buy from them again because of quality of product and customer service. The ARB is also one of the heaviest. Before purchasing mine, I saw a video where they tested the bumper by suspending a bag of weight (I think it was 60 lbs, but could definitely be wrong) and dropping it from some distance (guessing 20 feet) before impacting the bumper. Others folded in during that test, the ARB did not. Demello also seems to over-engineer the bumper on the inside. If you are considering animal impact, ARB or Demello would be my first choice. I like the Pelfrey, but don't know if they have the same level of reinforcement. Keep in mind that the reinforcement adds weight. To my knowledge, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, the ARB is the heaviest of our options.

I bought and installed OME 886 springs and OME's shocks and also added HS AALs prior to mounting my heavy Body Armor Bumper. I did not need new UCLs (it aligned very well) and the ride is great right now. This bumper plus winch would have been too heavy on lighter or OME suspension so I did the whole works at once.

ARB plus steel cable winch is 300lbs+. In my 09 I went with 700lb springs, and I think stock was 560? It is nice to bounce off a boulder and only leave a little paint, plus, the roadkill numbers are high are me this year.

My 2nd Gen ARB 343130 has the crush-cans built into the bolt-on subframe. It's what makes the ARB 'airbag' compliant.

Mine weighed in at around 125 lbs installed. No winch assembly.
