    Icon Ext / Camburg 1.25

Installed deaver J66 ten leaf pack with 5100's. Slight vibration, mostly in third gear deceleration.

Installed custom made deaver AAL with 5125's and 4crawler 3 degree axle shims (2"x4.5"). Another 1.25" acheived. Third gear vibration slightly more pronounced. Second gear vibration appears, almost as strong as third. First and fourth nice and smooth. Fifth unknown due to traffic.

Extremely happy with new stance. Want to effectively eliminate or reduce vibration. What is my next move? :sadviolin:

...try the carrier spacer from toytec. For the $10$ it cut down my vibration to almost non-existant

The only thing I could get to fix my vibes was to get a cv joint cut into my driveshaft and then shim my rear axle to the correct angle for that type of driveshaft. It cost a decent amount, but I would have paid it ten times over to fix it if I had known that was what I needed. I do not know how many hours and shims and u bolts I went through trying to correct my operating angles on my single cardan driveshaft with no resolution. Worth the money in my mind and vibes are gone!

Carrier will not help him, because he does not have a carrier bearing. He has a one piece driveshaft because it is regular cab. Only access/double cabs have carrier bearing (two-piece driveshaft).

unfortunately no. AAL and shims installed at same time. i read that u-bolts can only be used once, so i had them both done at same time. :(

For those of us without machine shops, the $22 Toytec charges isn't too bad if it works.

thanks alot guys. i guess ill have them pull the shims and see what happens.

if it improves great, if not i will have to look into the cv option, thanks!

i guess the question now is, was it the shims or the AAL thats doing this?

If you read some information online about driveshaft angles and operating angles between your driveshaft, your pinion, and your transfer case you will have a better understanding of what is going on. With the standard single cardan driveshaft you want your operating angles between the transfer case and the driveshaft, and between your pinion and your driveshaft to match or be within one or two degrees under load (acceleration). When you increased your rear lift height, it threw these angles off. In order to match my operating angles, I acutally had to rotate my pinion nose down which required me to install the shims with the fat side towards the front. When I did this, my angles all matched, but it did not matter because the actual angle of my driveshaft was too great for the stock u-joints. I also tried shimming with the fat side towards the rear, this is what you do with a cv driveshaft, and this did not help either. You should take the time and read this link about driveshafts and angles etc. It is very helpful.

    http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/PR-shaft/index.html

Long story short, no matter how perfect my operating angles were the actual driveshaft angle was too great for my truck and the stock setups, even when my operating angles under acceleration matched exactly. When I converted my standard single cardan driveshaft to a double cardan cv driveshaft and angled my pinion towards my transfer case with the same angle as the driveshaft I finally eliminated my vibes. This is because this driveshaft is designed to work at these angles unlike the stock single cardan driveshaft. Read that link. It is great info!

    Yup....

To the OP - reinstall the shims with the fat side in the front (closest to cab)
