I uploaded 24 vids to YouTube last night, going to shower and get in bed rather than take the time now to make an organized dump. Here's one of them

This is our easy stuff. Try the mud @ Rush off road park. It's like peanut butter....and deep.

I'll pass lol. Alabama mud is clay. You don't trust a water puddle around here either. Rolling through those trails at Black Mountain hitting the puddles was fun, but you try that down here you'll end up with your hood under water while your back tires are on dry ground.

Considering another run there in a month or so.

This time, stay somewhere warm! Like one of the cabins on their main road, hotel, or my house. I could accommodate a few people.

I'm originally from South Central Indiana. Deep soils, quite a bit of clay, quite a bit of dark loamy soils too. Mud there is MUD, not just dirty water. I still kinda laugh when I hear people referring to water holes as "mud". Some of the old trails we used to run in Southern Indiana, you could walk on them and not leave a footprint, but a truck would sink to the headlights.

I had a hole down here one time in my old '89 that was "crusted" over on top and looked like dry land. Drove over it, and boom truck is laying on the passenger side in mud. No damage just completely sideways. Can't trust it lol.

Yeah other than what I drug out of the Soup Bowl at Black Mountain most was just muddy water, but that bowl sure had some goopy mud in it.

I think most of the die hard campers got their fill of cold rainy camping. We were warm, dry, and comfortable in the cabin. Maybe next year we could rent one of the big 20 person cabins and split cost.

Part on next years Black Mountain run is going to involve camping on the trail one night. Not sure how many people made it there, but there's a BIG clearing/overlook on one of the mountain tops. I'd like to go there as a group....maybe issue maps to get to it...and camp there as a group one night.

I'm also trying to get a couple days off mid November/mid week so @tacabode can go with us. That may be a RRG trip.

You gave me flashbacks when you said "camp on the trail".. Windrock Trail 12, in the pouring ass rain, 24hrs, no food, no shelter... If it's a campsite and it's planned lol no big deal.

Yeah...I had my share of "pull off and stay overnight with no prep" while in the Army. Now days, anything less than a memory foam mattress and cable TV is roughing it.

Even in the pouring rain, we managed to get a group that included a few VERY stock trucks onto the look out point. In dry conditions, it would be a piece of cake.

This was the 3rd year for this meet. Year one is was drier'n talcum powder on a saltine cracker while we were there. Then it poured rain on the way home. Last year we drove down in a monsoon rain. Then it got dry, to the point we were stirring dust by the end of day 2. I got there late Friday, enjoyed some dusty dry trails, then spent the next 2 days in a swamp. We even drove most of the way home in rain. Up side to that was most of the dirt and mud was gone from under the truck by the time we hit the driveway. I'd really like to spend a weekend @ Black Mountain with NO rain for something completely different. I can deal with cold. Being wet is another story.

I saw a clearing or two off the trails in the group you were leading.

I'm not pitching a tent, in an open field, on top of a mountain, in October.
