So the Taco has just pulled into second place for vehicles I’ve owned the longest. Not that it’s a long tenure, 2.5 years. The truck is 4 wheeled vehicle #26, the longest I’ve owned any vehicle was my ‘96 Yukon, a POS lemon that I still loved. Great beach/camping vehicle on the Outer Banks. I had that for 4 years and replaced it with my first brand new vehicle purchase, a 2002 Tundra. Wish I still had that one, sold it when I get laid off from Lucent in ‘04.

I feel like a need to treat the Taco to something special to celebrate.

So I posted a while back about a 4 wheel drive issue I was having. When starting the truck (in 2wd) the 4x4 light would flash and would not switch into 4wd. If I turned the truck off, turned the switch to 4wd, and started the truck again it would switch into 4wd and also disengage normally.
After having the battery disconnected this weekend I noticed the 4wd light stopped blinking so while driving I switched to 4wd and it did engaged but the light is still blinking. Now it’s stuck in 4wd and won’t disengage. I’ve tried the same process noted above with no luck. Any ideas? @thefatkid ? Front actuator fix?

As an internet guess, yes. There is a complicated procedure for checking voltages on limit switches to see what actuator is reading in position. Have you tired hitting it with a hammer (serious) with light to moderate pressure, on the aluminum around where the shift shaft rides?
