    I like this, but is it actually legal in any state? Typically you cannot travel with a loaded mag within reach.

    To my knowledge you cannot carry a firearm with any loaded magazine together, inside of the vehicle. They have to be separate unless you have a concealed carry permit.

    Here in MD the laws vary by city. I wouldn't drive around with a loaded AR in either case, but definitely not a good idea for road trips crossing state lines.

    Not to mention in many states certain areas are restricted as well. (schools, assemblies, public areas) Some states even restrict the carry of loaded firearms near riots, which is when most would like to have them. Definitely read the rule books for your state and anywhere you plan to travel.

    In South Dakota we could roll around with loaded mags in a firearm. As long as there was not one in the chamber you were good to go.
