Did it with a paperclip. I haven't had the issue since, still too chicken to try to do it on purpose on that same stretch of road going 80mph....

    I'm curious

Is your lift pretty much level front to rear? I wonder if some of us don't experience an issue because we lifted and maintained rake front to rear. Just a thought. I'm lifted 3" front and 3" rear. Center of hub to fender measurements 23" on front 25" on rear.

Undoubtedly that was the VSC acting up. I used to have the same problem. It sort of self corrected itself, but I found that doing the calibration on it did almost nothing for it as it was still sensitive for a long time.

The issue is when you install a lift, if you install it in such a way where it raises the back end higher than the front, by removing the natural take the truck has it makes the VSC system panic and unsure of it's parameters.

Nothing in the system should cause your truck to automatically slam on the brakes and shed mph from 80 to 30... There is something severely wrong with your vehicle and you probably shouldn't drive it, aside from slowly limping it to the dealer for service ASAP.

Would it be better to wait and see if it does it at a different location or conditions? I'd probably feel more comfortable knowing what to expect and maybe a little relieved the fix works if it doesn't repeat.

It's a very common issue with lifting a Tacoma that has VSC

I would prefer to be expecting it, rather than get the surprise.
