Total Chaos 2" Long Travel on 2016

Winter project on my 2016 Tacoma from start to finish. Two weeks of occasional work and it's done. Pictures of progress form start to finish. Total Chaos 2" long travel kit with King Shocks.

Nice work, is this 100% bolt on or did you have to do any cutting / welding? Diff Drop?

 

Welding-yes, the bump stop extension and axle limit strap mount.
Cutting-yes, the cab mount chop(optional)
Diff Drop- no, but is optional,
ECG differential bushing installed also since I had the axles out.
All the rest is bolt on.

 

What size tires are you running and how bad was the fender cutting? Besides the cab mount chop of course. Any pictures of full lock?

@kzrpk5 How did you get the weld gun between the coil bucket and bulge for the upper limit strap mount?

 

your spindle gusset looks different. All that king bling tho!

Also, any pics or tips on how to weld on the limit strap upper mount? There's very little space between the coil bucket and that bulge to get a weld gun between to weld the mount.

 

Looks like your still getting it together and up and running? More pics the better like I said searched and searched and not many 2016s running this kit. Full view of the truck side? Side view? Are you running 285s?

 

If I did it over again I’d weld it somewhere else and mount it differently to the LCA. It’s way too close to the cv axle boot for my liking.

it's been about a year now on the Long Travel and zero issues. Love it. On road manners are fine. just get used to no front stabilizer bar, but that is learned behavior on corners. I currently runs 285's (33") and had to trim the inner fender well and pound down flat the pinch weld as shown on Total Chaos website. Off roading at extreme travel I will still get a slight rub. Perhaps wider fiberglass front fenders are in my future, not sure yet. But I can say that the Total Chaos 2" LT setup is very enjoyable. Handles any bump in on or off the road in stride. I can speed up when hitting bumps now. This winter while it is being stored in the garage I will be installing the All PRO Baja 2.0 front bumper and the Total Chaos rear SUA setup. Will post when that is underway. Wisconsin winters are hell on metal parts and so why ruin a good thing when a Range Rover is at your disposal. THE best winter vehicle PERIOD. To be clear this is my 4th Toyota pickup, owned a 1979 when I raced motocross, bought a 1st gen then a 2nd gen and now a 3rd gen, no complaints and I was dangerously close to buying a Raptor this time around-no regrets. And yes, getting the weld gun in there when welding the limit strap perch was a real bitch! Do the best you can, mine has not failed, then again there is zero chance of catching any air in Wisconsin!?
