    He was originally part of the Garappalo deal. They pulled him out because of the comp pick formula.if the pats got him in trade and kept him on the roster for 2 weeks they would have lost a fourth rind comp pick. And the 49rs have to pay the remaining guaranteed money

    I'm not seeing the value of the Garapollo trade for the 49ers. The Pats are the winners in this deal IMO. Trading your 1st second round pick for Garapollo... I don't know??

    either overpay for an avg QB in Cousins next year, risk drafting a dud. Or trade your second round pick for someone who has shown great signs and was highly ranked by Shannahan during his Browns tenure. SF can also test drive him 6 or so games this season to sign long term. If he doesnt want to, they can franchise tag him like what happened to Cousins. Although with 100m for cap space i'd say they can make a deal. Id say its a very high ceiling, low risk move. Garappolo wanted out of NE and NE didnt want him to end up in their own division in Free Agency.

    Other QBs have looked good in New Englands system then gone elsewhere and done nothing. Matt Cassle comes to mind for one example. I hope Garapollo works out but I thought if you're truly rebuilding do it thru the draft.

    theres no QBs in the draft class coming up. Also if Barkley declares for the draft SF is right in line. Trade Hyde for a lineman and cash out. A lot of different avenues to choose at this point.

    Niner's need all the help they can get right now. 1st round QB picks usually aren't ready yet, (Beathard). When your rollin the dice, I think Garapollo is a good deal. Something sooner or later has to pay off for this team. Belichick always manages to do ok on these kind of deals. He'll probably come up with the best QB in the draft banking that Brady can go a couple more years.
