Tires/Lift from Les Schwab

So I went to Les Schwab today out of curiousity. For a bull mountain (or a name similar to that) would cost $582.80 for installation. It also comes with rear spring and boot lifetime warranty and free installation. I know that Toytec is among the best (from what I've heard), and am going for thy instead of Les. I was wondering what you guys think about this?!? Help a rook out!

33/1250R-15/6 108P Open country M/T traction blackwall : $983.84 for all four. I don't know what most of that crap means, but I do know they're Toyos and I hear Toyos SUCK! my cousin and two of my uncles bought the same tires and they only lasted 30k miles and they're loud as crap. The guy at Les said they're quitter than ATs (which I find REALLY hard to believe). My cousin (4ari trd) says that I'm WAY better off with BFGoodrich ATs.

i'm assuming that bull mountain thing your talking about is a spacer lift with blocks for the rear spings, right?

i wouldn't order susp parts from them because they are gonna be way over priced and prob poor quality.

BFG A/T's last a long freaking time. mine have 60K miles on them an still got a little tread and have held up great.

what exactly are you looking for in a lift? looks, performance...

buy your stuff online (it's way cheaper) and then shop around for install prices.

 

www.onlinetires.com has great prices on tires and their shipping is cheap too.

in terms of suspension is would go with bilstein 5100 shocks on all four corners and an AAL out back for the rear leafs. you can get these parts from either toytec or downsouth motor sports. both are vendors here on TW and will give you a member discount.

The Bilstein 5100s are a great way to lift your vehicle. Then you match the 2.5" in the front you would want to get an AAL for the rear. We have two different options for the aals.

 

Your most def. ganna want to go with a 3" lift to fit the 33" tires without rubbing. So the 5100's are out! they only give 2.5" lift. But they are an awsome rear shock with a 2" AAL!
Dont get any lift from Les. I did and it was a spacer/block lift and sucked ass! they are way over priced and sell crappy spacer lifts.

For the Front check out OME lifts at Toyteclifts.com. They will give a great ride and quality. Or If you can swing it money wise... Look at there coilovers, I got them and love them!

 

or just go with some 32" tires...

 

BFG A/T's are a great tire, but not if you plan on mudding or going in deep snow. They do pretty poor in those area's. they just dont clean out verry well and become like slicks..
But other then that, there great on road, and in moderate offroading.
Oh and dont forget about a diff drop kit with your lift....

Not yet. I'm not in a rush to get these things installed, I'm too broke. I'm just doing my homework. What do you guys think of these:

Toyo's aren't bad tires, you could do a lot worse.

As for Les Schwab, I've gone there for all my tires as long as I've been driving. I've shopped around for a better price, but their service is really good and worth the small premium. Granted, my expierence is for tires, I've never used or priced their lift services.

 

My cousin would disagree with you. He bought toyos and was promised a 60k mile warranty/ lifetime and was dissapointed when they only lasted 30k miles. He tried to take them back and they said "sorry, tires wear out." nevermind the fact that they were supposed to last twice as long. This is a guy from Les schwab. And it wasn't just my cousin, it was two of my uncles also.

 

See, my experience differs. The last time I had a flat they wouldn't repair it because the tires were at the tread bar. Fair enough, its probably dangerous to keep driving on them, so I bought new tires. When I pulled out the paper work for those tires (they were Toyo Eclipse), it showed that they had a little over 50k miles on them, and they were warrantied for 70k. The salesperson I dealt with gave me a credit towards the new tires.

The tires were purchased originally in the Vancouver store, but the replacements were done in Sandy. I dunno, maybe I've been lucky, but I've always received good service with them. Ymmv =/

 

x2, I buy my tires locally from LS, cost more but if there is a problem, I can drive a couple miles for a repair/service, plus rotation, balancing and etc all adds up and its free for the life of the tires.

 

I guess it must be with this perticular salesperson..? 2 of my uncles and my cousin bought the same tires (my cousin got 32s and my uncles got 35s) and neither lasted over 30k miles and the same person pretty much told them "there's nothig we can do, tires wear out." even though they were promised a 60k or 80k mile warranty and that the tires would last that long. They all happened to go to the same guy at a store right by my house. What do you guys think? How could this have been handled differently?

I'm a tire salesman (not for Les Schwab) and I make sure to write down the tire mileage warranty (along with invoice number, tire make and model, and vehicle mileage) in the "Limited Warranty" pamphlet that I give to every customer that goes out the door with new tires. That way, they have it in writing and can bring it to any of our 180 locations in the NW to either get road hazard warranty or mileage adjustment warranty. In your cousin/uncles case, I would have pro-rated out the tires due to how much tread still remains, and just apply that to a new set of tires! So if he paid $300 per tire, and the tire was already worn out (anything below 4/32 of tread left), then we would get $150 credit per tire on his next purchase. So if he bought the same tire at again $300 per tire, and his total bill came to $1356 out the door with sales tax included, then we would adjust the price by taking off $600 ($150 per tire) and his new grand total would be $720!
