    Nope,
You are correct. Tailgate lock is still only with the key for 2018.

For every rear brake discussion, I raise you a power seat discussion

I couldn't care less about power seats. I just wish there was seat height adjustment, and that the seat was a bit more bucketed.

Well it is a viable complaint. As much as I love this truck, there is a lot that isn't included for the money.

    @MidCitiesMildMan & @Fla2smoker

My Limited came with tailgate lock installed. It was installed by the port, I believe, because the dealer only paid to add tint at a local shop beyond what they paid SET. FYI..I am confident in my knowledge because my wife was working in the accounting office for the dealer when I bought it and my daughter still works there in sales. I also was able to see the way it was installed/wired with taps behind the driver's side kick panel when I installed my power steps.

So I am not sure if it my trim level for the area or just random luck that it was already installed. I test drove 2 other Tacos, a sport and an OR, before I decided on this one and did not notice if it was on them or not. I can look at my invoice/sticker to see if it is detailed as an extra charge, I am sure it is.

Frankly, the only reason I want/would want power seats is for a driver 1/2 memory setting. So when my truck is driven by the wife or a dealer employee when in for service I could return it to MY setting with the touch of one button. ;)

Other than that, I rarely move the seat. So if it can not remember my setting ther is really no need for it to have power adjustment. :notsure:

I don't want to brag, but I'm actually skilled enough to operate both manually adjusted, and power adjusted, seats. I should probably update my LinkedIn skills to reflect this.

To your point, I just need to know in my first 5 minutes of ownership if I should be pulling a bar under my seat, or pushing a button on the side of the seat.

Quick question--the dealers in my area (southern California) say there's no dealership within 500+ miles that's going to receive an off-road DCLB premium and tech package with the first allocation wave.

what's the best way to get one? I already spoke to my dealer who said he put in an allocation request for the config I want, but it definitely won't come in the first allocation and who knows about the subsequent ones. should I just keep waiting until he gets confirmation of an allocation happening?

I would drive out to AZ or NV to get one (I think those were the closest in dealer daily) but those were in white and white is the last color I'd want for a truck that I actually intend on taking off-road!

Not saying that any of you would leave your tacomas but if they were to suddenly drop off the planet. What would be everyone's second choice for a 2018 midsize truck?

Point about power seats is that they offer more fine tuned adjustment and more directions of adjustment.

Would have to be the Nissan as that would be the only other 4x4 Manual.

Hello everyone! Newbie to the forum. My previous truck was a 2006 dodge dakota 4x4 and I am looking to buy a 2017 or 2018 tacoma but not sure which one to buy. Now, I'm not sure if this is entirely true but I visited a Toyota dealership awhile ago and the salesman pointed out that I may have difficulty if I lift a 2018 due to it having the tssp feature. Is there any truth to that?

Sure, there is some truth to that, but the salesman’s job is to move the inventory he has also. Do you want the features the 2018 model has or are you fine with a 2017 model? The 2018 Tundra has TSS-P and they are being lifted, it just takes a little more fine tuning to make sure the radar and camera are level. So more difficult, yes, impossible, no.

I sit in random office chairs all day. All with manual adjustments. They are all fine to me. I'd rather have the power rear sliding window or tailgate lock than power seats.

Ahh ok. I'm fine with the 2017 or 2018 but I wouldn't mind the 2018 for the added safety feature.
