That's sweet #41. But the Cabelas thing is the way Id go. Easy access without re-inventing the wheel.

Yeah, I hold a hunting rifle and an AR in the truck no problem. Will also hold a fly rod in its tube.

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
    A-fricken-men, brother.

Even in Kommunist Kalifornia, if you're out hunting in the sticks, as long as the chamber is empty and you're not shooting *across* a road/trail/campsite, you're in the clear with the magazine loaded. The extra seconds to get 2 rounds in the rifle feels like an eternity when that bastard is just standing broadside, looking at you, wondering what to do next.

Ordered the aluminum plate today. Decided to go with 1/8" - I think 3/16" is gonna be overkill for a single 30-06 rifle riding up there.

Don't hit them half the time but better to keep them scared of humans than not. I frequently find tracks 50 yards off my back porch that's what the .223 bolt gun behind my door is for. I plan on doing the black hawk mount in the center console at some point in the future, never used mine again once I switched to Alien gear holsters.

I like that idea a lot. Only issue in my state is long guns have to be in the open or easily visible not concealed during transport.

I hear ya. It is definitely not the most accessible either. Just found it nice to know that a 20" 870 12ga can fit under the seats. I do not carry it there on the regular.

Never gotten around to learning the art of the bow. A friend of mine gave me an older (GameGetter?) bow with a new string and adjusted to my pull, but time...never enough time.

Laws are different in all states and areas. I’m aware of that. My undertone was more disaproving of someone feeling the need to have a long rifle at the ready while in a moving vehicle. Not very sporting to me to see people brake off a road, grab their gun, and shoot at a big game animal that just wondered across the road.

Pest control on private property is another deal.

My main point was I’m not sure why its a fucking kunundrum to just set the gun in the bed or backseat. The gun isn’t going to move around.
Any kind of rack or holder is just going to make accessing the gun more difficult. Especially if its RIGHT behind the seat back.

When bird hunting with a group we used to have the shotgun racks that go aross the backseats. Even if you were sitting in the back it was a pain to get the gun out when you weren’t in a hurry and it seemed unsafe with loaded weapons so we stopped using them. Throw everything in the bed, easy and quick.

Just a word of warning, if you do go bow you’ll never go back.

x4/5 for the Cabela's back of the seat holder. Use it multiple times a week and love it. Does fine even on rough fire/logging roads.

A: the animals don't consider it very sporting no matter how you do it. I'm not concerned about your view on what's sporting.

B: if you think a rifle in the back seat or bed won't move, you have zero clue of where I'm driving.

I respect that you have an opinion. I'm just letting you know that it does not apply to my reality.
