I had mine done down at JN Phillips in Newton on Washington St. I ended up helping them tear a subwoofer out of a 2nd gen so they could replace the rear window. They did a great job on my truck no problem.

The exhaust was totally rusted out (actually snapped while I was driving to work). I replaced the exhaust manifold with some unequal length headers. Replaced the catback with a $150 eBay stainless fart can. So it had that rumble!

I replaced the struts all around with KYB ATX adjustable dampening struts. Also had a super rare carbon fiber JDM STi front strut brace.

I replaced the interior with 2003 WRX hatch seats, a black carpet out of a 2005 Saab 9-2X.

I collected all the parts to put 2.0 WRX heads on it, a VF39 STi turbo, and standalone ECU to control everything... Then I just decided on selling it and buying my 17.

They only got power what, a couple years ago? So when it goes out, it probably takes the utility a while to fix.

 

I'd take one of those over all the cars on the page that loaded for me.

We just took an 06 impreza sedan 5 speed yesterday on trade. It has 165k on it. All of my parts will fit....

The woods are full of downed trees, so I'd be surprised if there weren't a lot of trails blocked off. But, I'd also be surprised if the clubs didn't have them all cleared by the end of the weekend, lol.

I live on a short dead-end road in the country. We're low priority, lol. The main road has power, but there's a tree leaning on the lines about halfway up my road.
It's not really a huge hardship, honestly. I'm a bit of prepper so I've got plenty of oil lamps and fuel, a 5500 watt generator/transfer switch setup (enough to run the boiler, water pump, fridge/freezers, and a few lights), hand pump for water, etc. I'll run the generator in the evening to keep everything in the fridge/freezers cold and we'll shower, do dishes, etc. while it's on. Then I'll shut it down and we operate with oil lamps, buckets, and the hand pump the rest of the time.

Good point, plus he's on an island, and his house is on a peninsula on the river, last on the line. Hard to feel bad for him though, he has a 40k watt whole house genset. He can do laundry if he wants while running the dishwasher.

 

You know I never really thought of oil lamps for emergency lighting, I have Coleman propane lanterns, but oil lamps are a way better idea in a power outage. I'm off to Amazon!

 

That's not doomsday prepping; that's just living in the country and being prepared. After 5 years in the house we've gotten used to losing power fairly frequently, and having it be out for a couple of days at a time. The first winter we were here we had an ice storm around Christmas and were out of power for about a week. Celebrated the holiday by oil lamp, lol. That was when I got serious about getting the house set up to deal with outages. Installed the wood cookstove, picked up the generator (from a fellow TW-er here in Maine, actually), got a bunch of serious output oil lamps, and rigged up the hand pump in the cellar bathroom. I've got it plumbed into the water line coming in to the house, so all I have to do when we lose power is shut the valve to the house, open the valve to the hand pump, and we're good to go.
So now when we lose power it's no big deal.

...and all y'all said the DPT2.0 was an easy drive - LOL.

 

Buy the antiques. They're much better built.

And personally, I recommend the Aladdin lamps. They throw a TON more light. That's what I've got running in the photo above.
