Transmission change at 100,000

    I don't know why people keep saying these transmissions are "sealed". If that were the case they wouldn't have drain and fill plugs.

    I've had my transmission flushed and re-filled at approximately 100,000-mile mile intervals, so it's been three times so far (just rolled over 360,000 last week) with no ill effects. No fluid will last forever.
    Dealership service depts. spewing the "it's a lifetime transmission fluid" and "they don't need service, it's a sealed transmission" are really playing with words. The avg. original owner will probably never get over 100,000 miles b4 they sell or trade it in for another vehicle. So that orig. owner, during their "lifetime" of owning that vehicle, in theory, did not have to do any maintenance to the transmission, thus it "lasts a lifetime."
