    Questions questions,

ok so I'm a total newbie when it comes to this, i would like to lift my 2015 tacoma, is a trd off -road 4x4, i have no idea about lift kits or any of that, so if i lift it how much should it be lifted? 2inches?, 3 inches?, would i need different size tires than the ones it came with, right now it has the ones it came with BFgoodrich rugged trail, 265 /70r16, can i just put bigger tires? any advise on this will be welcomed.

    Thanks

not sure on the budget yet, but im not looking to go over board, maybe under 2k, and i do want to lift it, but confused about how to go about it, intended use, off-road and city driving, off-road not as often as i like but will be used for that

If youre wanting to do a suspension lift on your 4x4, it is generally recommended to stay below 3 inches to keep your constant velocity axle angles from getting too extreme or you will end up wearing parts out prematurely(or if you want more you can go with a drop bracket lift). Like @ChadsPride mentioned, your budget and intended use for the truck will play a big role in which route to go. Also, just because you lift the truck, you wont necessarily be able to clear bigger tires without cutting/trimming and a cab mount chop. The largest tire you can fit on stock suspension is 265/75/16 or 265/70/17 without having to worry about rubbing at all. Im running 3.5 inches of lift up front on my truck (2wd prerunner) right now and about an inch out back, and im running 265/70/17, but i want to step up to 285s. Im ready to cut whatever i need to though to get the clearance so thats something to consider when going with bigger tires! Good luck and welcome aboard!

    Like, so many.
You'll probably want 5100 Billies. I mean, that's pretty much the standard. You can definitely go one tire size with no worries at all.

Correct, if anything you might have a little scrubbing on your mud flaps, but you can always take a file to the area thats rubbing and knock it down a little bit. Thats what i did on my trucks and i was able to keep the flaps on them

I'll probably be in the minority here but I say leave it stock, at least for now.

The cost, potential problems with handling, premature front end component wear, drive issues, reduced gas mileage and more just doesn't make it worth it.

Unless you just want it. Then there is nothing anyone can say to talk you out of it.:D

My truck handles better with aftermarket suspension than stock OEM. Lift it but do it right and do it once:thumbsup:

Even 2 inchs of lift throws your driveline completly out of wack on these trucks, and the only real fix is a new cust $600 1 piece driveline.

from what i have read, there are some headaches that come from lifting, and of course the money, a place in socal $4500 for a lift kit, that put me off of even thinking about lifting it
