    I drive highway speeds in 4x4 all the time in winter. You'll be fine in front wheel drive.

    A few days ago, @Sub-Zero broke his driveshaft wheeling at Moab, Utah and drove home to Colorado. 6 hours across the Rockies on 35's.

    SOOOOOO MUCH MISINFORMATION.

    1. You can shift into 4high on the fly up to 60mph. Its right there clear as day in the manual (hell might even be on the placard card on the back of the driver sun visor)

    2. Stock front diff is an open diff, not a spool, driving on the freeway in 4hi with the rear driveshaft removed is 100% perfectly OK and poses no safety risk.


    OP You will be fine. Just dont be a dick driving around flooring it everywhere and you will be fine. Its going to drive a bit different and pull the steering a little weird but beyond that, its going to drive the same and poses no risk for the short term. I went 3 or 4 days without a rear shaft as i let some silicone dry in the stock CB with the shaft out of the truck.

    This was a while back in a mid 90s GMC, but my brother snapped his rear drive shaft and drove around for a few months in 4H till he traded the truck in. Never seemed to be an issue.

    Little bit of stuff.
    Drive as far as you want, just be wary of increased axle wrap in the rear, and a rather different steering feel under acceleration. "Torque Steer" is the correct term I believe. I did it for 3 days when I was waiting on a replacement front yoke without any issues, just the above changes in drive feel.

    This was in a jeep I drove to / from the trails and just to to get you more excited it did have a spool in the rear also

    I had no choice and had to drive it home and luckily my friends were the one who came up with using the high lift jack handle for the front driveshaft repair
