thanks guys. tomorrow, theyre keeping him overnight tonight to keep him calm and sedated and will remove spleen and tumor tomorrow. In about a week we'll know benign or malignant. much stress, my wife is a mess tonight.

He's followed me faithfully across 3 states, from one side of the country to another and north to south. We took him from an abusive alcoholic when he was just about a year old. Came to find out dude kept him in a kennel for almost 20 hours a day everyday of the 1st year of his life. Dude had him out walking him and he pulled the old fuckwad over and on the spot called animal control on dog saying he was an aggressive dangerous dog.. Basically said you'll surrender him or we'll beat the living fuck out of you right here and now. His name is Colt. He's a 10.5-11 year old sleep machine. I heard a few years later the old man died and i cant say that didnt make me happy he was alone and miserable.

when he got to the house I had one rule for him. sleep wherever the fuck you want. He was eager to learn and ended up be the gentlest dog ive ever met. Hes a bit timid at first, old habits. But about 2 minutes later hes sitting on your feet leaning into you.

These 3 pictures are literally the day I brought him home. He aggressively sleeps and leans into you to get petted.

 

My boy Tony is the same way. He sleeps like a crazy dog, probably sleeping 18-20 hours a day (not exxagerating) and when you pet him, leans up on you with all his weight. Thought it was a greyhound specific thing, but must be a trait in more breeds. I think it's the cutest thing!

I'm glad you were able to give Colt a happy and thorough life of joy and saving from his abusive upbringing, and I know he appreciates it as well.

All dogs are like that. They have to be ready, at any moment, to leap into miraculous action. They are saving their energy for the ones they guard. Us.

 

It's the same up here in the SF Bay Area. I pretty much have my credit card out as soon as I walk into the reception area.

Yeah, i did math on if I had started a comprehensive policy when we rescued him 10 years ago, I would have paid $19,860 in premiums of which I have had maybe including this 8-9K in potential claims from regular visits / emergencies etc.
