    UPDATE:

I looked closer at the "Build Your Own," and it would appear that the SR5 is available in a V6/2WD configuration. However, it is only available in black...?

Good point! Do you think it's possible to get a million miles out of a 2.7L without a total or partial rebuild?

I'm not familiar with those at all, but I've heard of some old guy with a 5lug that had 700k+ miles. I don't think it had any sort of rebuild

Also, can you imagine a 4.0L or 3.5L with the 4.10 gears my truck has? The gas mileage would be horrible!

I was wondering about that. It was a mod? @jberry813 ? Sorry if I tagged you by mistake.

Interesting thought experiment but you should know Toyota’s build site doesn’t let you build every possible configuration. It only lets you see what’s currently in inventory in your distribution region. Try changing the zip code and you’ll see your build options change.

I think the 3rd Gen Tacoma could be better with the 4.6 V8 1UR-FSE or the 5.0 V8 2UR-FSE from the Lexus. The 5.7 V8 is too much for a little tacoma to handle. If it happened, I wonder the Tundra can survive on the market.

That tool is useless right now. You can get any trim in almost any color (a few are trim exclusive), in 2wd or 4wd, access or double cab. Problem is you're looking at a 2017 build your own tool that will probably only last another week at most until the 2018 tool comes out. That's why you're getting weird combos. Slim pickings left for 2017.

As for the v8.... Why not just buy a tundra? That would be a stupid crazy amount of money to spend.

This isn't true. Every model except the TRD Pro can be optioned as 2wd.

This sounds like a ton of work, but if it were me I'd be showing it off to anyone and everyone. Its such a shame you can't get a V8 in a midsize pickup anymore. I'd love to have one.

Believe it or not, you can also get a Ram 1500 Rebel in 2WD, and not only that, a locking/posi rear is an extra-cost option? Can you imagine that? A 2WD/Prerunner Ram Rebel with all that fancy off-road shit and an open rear!

From 2007-2013, it was also possible to get the Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and Avalanche in 2WD with the Z71 package. Unlike Dodge, however, getting the Z71 package automatically gave you a locking rear diff (RPO G80). Some might consider it "useless" or "pointless," but think about it...

Why do us Taco guys buy Prerunners typically? We are not looking for a serious off-roader, but we want that 4x4 look without the extra cost and decreased fuel efficiency. Even though it's 2WD, the 2WD Z71 Chevy trucks and the Prerunner Tacos still have the same suspension as the 4x4 models.

Hell, even my 2010 2WD 5-lugger with it's "Auto LSD," which I call a "Fake Posi," got me out of a ditch and up an untreated hill on Swamp Road during a snowstorm!
