Actually straight up disk parking brakes only hold real well in one direction. Mainly for lighter duty like cars.

The ones with the drum parking brake in the center hold better in both directions, kinda merge the best of both worlds. Commonly found in trucks.

My 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse had the former, I had to replace the calipers when I got the car because the parking brake part of them was seized. The drum parking brake design for disk brakes is much more reliable (IMO at least Ford's is better than Mitsubishi's anyway)

I have lived on a gravel road for 5 years and have driven gravel roads since I got my license 17 years ago, every thing I own has disk brakes and even with mud tires I have yet to get anything in the brakes. On the flipside they do shed mud and water much easier than drums...

Someone @ me whenever this pointless pissing match about brakes is over. We have drums. We will have drums until they refresh the truck again...or longer. Get over it.

Waiting on package and options pricing, so I can get OTD prices in writing before choosing which dealership will rip me off the least.

I've had mine on "order" since Oct. 12th. Still no allocation here in the Scottsdale/Phoenix, AZ area with my options. I get daily updates from my Fleet Manager buddy that works at a local dealership here.

Question: How do you order a truck (Im assuming this means you put a little cash down) without dealer having official base and options pricing?

My understanding is that your dealer will require an amount ranging from $200-$500 in order to place the order. Once you put down a deposit you can then select your options, color, etc Within 3+ days the dealer will get an update from Toyota stating whether your order was accepted and a build date will accompany that update. Once Toyota releases the pricing and then you can negotiate off the MSRP with your dealership.

Ok...but you're then tied to that vehicle and dealer after the build starts?

Based on my limited knowledge; no, you're not tied down to this "order", this is mainly due to the fact that the vehicle isn't there to be inspected so you haven't really paid for it. I'd talk to a sales guy and get more info, the "order" is not contractual so you're only putting a few hundred on the line which is refundable by the way if you decide nay!

I put a 250 deposit for my 2017 that's being built. I put it on a credit card with a 0% apr rate in case I have to leave it there for a couple months... not tied to anything, it's a refundable deposit and its not even ever coming out of my bank account.

    On order
Hi all. First post. First time Tacoma owner. Ordered my 2018 off road a month ago. Dealer says it's slated for arrival December 15th, with their only other one of order end of November. Opted for no packages except the blackout. Previous 4 cars were all Infiniti sports cars. Can't wait for this. $500 deposit (not cashed). Full pricing in today.

Nothing worse than having the vehicle you want at a dealership that wont work with you on price. That is why I am waiting for pricing before determining who I will be dealing with.
