To keep the sidewalls from warping in. The 10ply tires are very thick so it helps with mounting.

Love this thread! Definitely got me set on ordering some STT pros for my next tires. Only debate now is going with 265/75/16 or 285’s. Anybody see big changes in gas mileage with these? Also do 285’s require re-gearing or excessive cutting? Currently have a stock 3rd gen DCSB and am planning on throwing an icon stage 2 lift in. Sorry for the load of questions haha but any feedback is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I’ve talked to many off roaders with years of experience and they have always recommend if you go with a bigger tire and want to get the best performance, re-gear. If I got 285’s I would re-gear to 4.30.

33’s are a big tire....especially the STT Pro. Unless your only driving a straight line, your definitely going to get some rubbing when you go off roading unless you do a mount chop and fender trimming to minimize rubbing.

I’ve been debating if I should upgrade to 33’s but for now 32’s are doing me fine when I go off roading. Check out the link below:D

Mine are 32x11.5xr15. I like them a lot. Haven't had to use 4wd yet. Was gonna go with the white letters out but they mounted them the wrong way. Still think it looks good :notsure:

Nice! I will have those in about 3 days. Decided to swap the 265/75R16’s for the 285/75R16’s.

265/75r16 with no lift. Working well for me so far, but will definitely step up a size or two when lift, chopping, trimming, etc is done.

I did the exact same thing lol The 285 changes the look of the truck. But with those M/T tires im rubbing like a SOB until I get my CMC and and trim on Monday.

I have a 2.5 lift and wheels are a -6 offset, so I shouldn’t have to trim or have any rubbing.

Where are they rubbing? I had 285/70R16’s on stock suspension and stock wheels and only rubbed at full lock.
