Did search, didn't find anything. Can you disable the passenger side airbag - say when my dog it sitting there?

What are you going to do when the wife or girlfriend is sitting there?

I meant temporarily. Cars used to have a switch or slot to stick the key in to temporarily disable the airbag.

There is a sensor in the seat that engages the airbag once a certain weight is measure. I don't know what that is, but you will see the dash light cycle.

Does you dog make is say that the airbag is on?

Well, actually haven't tried it yet! He is a Pug and on my '08 it kept kicking off the seat belt alarm - so if the seat belt alarm comes on I would assume it triggers the airbags also - maybe?

I believe the seat belt ping is triggered off of a switch in the buckle along with a butt sensed in the passenger seat? The seat belt ping can be permanently turned off for both seats with the Carista app.

The airbag works off of an sensor in the seat bottom.

OP, I won't play with it if I were you.
I had a peer in college who tried this exact same thing on his car, and the thing just blew up in his face.
He needed to dis-engage it because he had taken out all the seats except the driver seat.
Cost him $650+ to replace the airbag and labor.
Its not worth it. Unless you have the money to experiment of-course.

Your friend set off an airbag using the Carista app?

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Fat pug. My husky doesn't have issues sitting in the front seat. If he did I'd just throw the belt latched behind him. Although that fucker sheds so much he rides cross-tied in the bed these days.

You'd want to leave the seat belt unplugged if the dog was turning the airbag on. The inflation of the airbag is slower if there is no seat belt detected.

That must be a skinny husky. My 65 lb dog sets off the chime in the T4R.

OP - disconnect it under the seat.

No apps invovled. I was there, but was looking under the hood at something else at the time, so my view was blocked.
He was trying to disconnect the sensors while trying to remove the passenger side seat..
It was so funny though, all of us laughed till our stomachs hurt. He had a white powder like substance all over his face and hair.
The car was in park mode, but the motor was running.
Man. miss those days of friends, innocent fun and goofing around.

He's a good 50 right down the middle of trim or chunky.

This, kids, is called: doing electrical work with the battery connected. I rememeber my first beer.

    Ha! Sounds weird, I know.

The reason is dual stage airbags. We get them in the US because people refuse to wear seatbelts. They activate at a slower speed to not break folks' necks.

It'd be safer for a pet, if the seat sensed enough weight to turn on the airbag light, to leave the seatbelt unbuckled.

So then it was not the "exact same thing" that I suggested.

With the Carista app, you can turn off the seat belt chime. That's all that I suggested.

BTW, the unbuckled belt dash light will still come on. Just no chime.

The seat has a sensor that detects the weight of the person or dog on the rear. I believe it's 60lbs that triggers the air bag to deploy. At 25lbs the bag won't go off.
