For those that installed LR UCA's....

what (if anything) did you use to push the ball joint back into the spindle? I tightened it down as far as i could get it but i still see a little bit of the ball joint, the nut is on tight as hell and the cotter pin is lined up.

 

I did nothin but line it up, shove it thru, put the nut on, tighten it up & put cotter pin back in.

 

Yea thats what i did too because i didn't have a ball joint press, i think it needs to be pressed into the spindle. However, the LR install video from SPC doesn't show or tell you to press it in....so who knows.

 

Nah, the nut should cinch it up where it needs to be. Mine did, right up to the flat surface of the bottom of the ball joint. Not sure if it's visible but here's an in progress pic from my swap........



Can't really see the exact point where the bottom of the balljoint touches the top of the spindle but it's there. I just used a 1/2 inch drive ratchet and once it was tight by hand used a 1 1/4 combo wrench over the socket handle to do final tightening an alignment of the cotter pin holes.

 

No press needed. Use a jack to press the LCA up and then use a hand to push the UCA down, then tighten. Make sure to torque it to 81 ftlbs. Just because the pin lines up doesn't mean it's all the way on. Also make sure the ball joint isn't just spinning as you tigheten the nut.
