I'm looking at getting a roof rack for my Quicksand taco. I have a few questions about it.

Is the Prinsu Roof Rack worth it? Does it hurt MPG? how about Tacoma world discount?

    Other option is Baja Rack.

Prisnu owners without wind deflectors; do you experience any wind noise?

From what I'm reading some say there is wind noise some say their isn't. There is no sound deadening in the roofs of our trucks so I imagine you would hear some. There is a prinsu bs thread in the prinsu sub forum

Not sure on the prinsu rack but the t-slot in general can be extremely loud if the wind is not propperly deflected.

Experienced some wind noise and got this, helped a TON! Weatherstripping closed gaps and reduced wind noise

Sorry, meant the weather stripping I put around the deflector to close the gap between the roof and rack to reduce wind noise

Does that second strip between the lightbar noticeably help as well?

I honestly couldn't tell you, I saw a gap there so I figured I'd just do it too.

the wind deflector is a necessity with these racks imo
weatherstripping for the bottom is also a necessity on the 3rd gens
t-slot covers from Amazon to cover all unused T-slots on the top/bottom/front of the bars, INCLUDING the bar that supports the deflector are key.

When I first installed my Prinsu I was very loud in my dissatisfaction with the wind noise and thought people were crazy why said it wasn't loud, but after a couple attempts tinkering with it, moving front bars back a bit, etc., I can barely tell it's there now. And it's solid as hell and my truck would look naked without it!

Yes. Just got in the weather reducing strip yesterday so I'm excited to see how it cuts down the noise.

    1. Yes, it's worth it versus not having one. There are alternatives that'll be aesthetically different (like the Dissent rack, the baja or the frontrunner), but it's useful considering rack vs. no rack
    2. I lost up near 2 mpg when installing mine. Went from just about 23 to just about 21. My truck is otherwise stock. I wonder if someone puts this on a vehicle without suspension and tire mods that those will contribute much more to a tacoma's decrease in MPGs. Science needs to get on this.
    3. There was one when the product was sold by the original owner, I don't believe the new owners provide one. but they have a profile and a forum here, so definitely ask.

Only time I ever hear wind noise is on windy highways with some cross wind. Other than that, I can’t hear shit over my mud terrains and tinnitus lol

Well it's actually 6 per bar, but each strip will be longer than the length of the Prinsu bars so you can use the leftover from 2-3 bars to cover the next slot. I have most of them covered except for a few spots where I have some t-nuts installed, but even then I have the t-slot covers on either side of the hardware as close as I could get it.

    Ok cool.
I forgot how long the cross bars are but will measure when I get home. Falloff will definitely work for bottom and behind deflector. Great idea!
Toppers are a no brainer just for protecting the aluminum. Hope the side and bottom will eliminate some wind noise from the t-slots.
I was going to order 20 but now it looks like I’ll need more like 30. Don’t want to pay shipping twice so I might get a few spares for future damage.
