Squirrels are fearless. My mom gets a ton of red ones that like to sit in the trees and torment the dog. They've never gotten into the house though.

I had my phone inches from these guys and they did not care.

Got one more mouse this morning. Set a garage trap since that's where I thought they were coming in from and caught one almost immediately. Not sure about round 2 in the attic yet.

Goal is to get them out of the attic then keep traps elsewhere to hopefully stop them before they get up there in the first place.

I don't think I can do that without first expanding the access hole significantly.

They just put it between studs rather than framing out a larger spot. I'm a thin guy and need to put my arms up first to be able to fit through. It's a small fiberboard panel that just sits in place like a ceiling tile would. Has to be pushed up about a foot to move it out of the way.

Did anyone of your party get the stout? I rarely see high% stouts and I love them.

Install some stairs/ ladder , It's worth the trouble. Price is not that bad either.

The framing that is required is not that hard .

Morning all! Happy 1st Friday of the week...

The ones around here all run when I open the door. I've taken to shooting them sniper-style through the window from 6 feet inside the room.

It'll be on the list eventually maybe. I have a pile of other things lined up before that.

Other issue is the vermiculite. It's covered with fiberglass and blown in cellulose so it's not an issue in general, but a project like that means I have to disturb it.

From what I was told when I had my infestation was you're not going to be able to keep up with them until you give them poison to take back to their nests. As much as I don't like it I also didn't want my dogs or myself getting sick from them

So much work to do today, looking forward to it. I'm going to final FF the Tacoma after I buy some more at Grainger.

I think it's probably time to swap to my snow tires as well. Maybe I'll try and get a coat of sealant on the truck too if time cooperates with me. The wife is taking the little one out with her family for the day, so I've got some time to work with.

When the cat is away, the mice will play. That's exactly how I roll as well. Can only get stuff done outside when the wife takes the kiddos somewhere. Parenting problems...

Red squirrels are brutal. They are extremely destructive little bastards! You could have mice in your garage or house for a while and never notice and they wouldn't really cause a lot of damage but red squirrels like to chew shit, especially wires. If you get them in your house, you want to get them out QUICK! When I had them in my garage, fortunately, I found the nest, caught the mother in a trap, relocated the little ones and got rid of the nest.

Peppermint oil on cotton balls placed around the inside of the house for mice. Take peppermint oil mixed with water and spray it against the entrances where they come in. That stopped a mouse infestation at my ex's house in Dorchester. To this day she does the same thing every month and hasn't seen a rat or mouse since.

    Great squirrel photos.
I figure if a mouse can get in, then cold air can get in & heated air can get out. I did stuff like turn on lights inside & walk around house at night looking for light leaks & sealed them up. Went into the basement w/ lights out mid day & found more light leaks & sealed those up too. unfinished basement is less drafty now, less spider webs down there now, & no signs of mice in 2 years.
