theres no exhaust in the world that makes me want to hear a high strung v6 more than factory. nor are there horsepowers to be gained that surpasses exactly how terrible this motor sounds when breathing better.

the only v6's that have sounded good are neither true v6's (ie the vw VR6) or are not high output like the 3.5. Yes theres some garbage italian v6's that sound great. But lets not pretend the any of the current gens v6's available in high out configurations sound good. and for the sake of conversation we can eliminate any race built 9000 rpm engine from the convo.

Haven't heard a single aftermarket setup on our engines that sounds even remotely good.

Meh. Agree to disagree. Definition of a subjective topic. I will agree that off the shelf production cars with V6's are generally pretty weak but my point was more that V6's can sound amazing if set up properly. Not all of course but some.

So just to stir the pot, I love the sound of the Spec U system with 2K miles on it. To each his own. I also will agree that a cat back system will not produce more power. The removal of the shitty y pipe and second set of cats will.

I always thought the old GM 4.3L sounded decent... It was basically a 350 with the back 2 cylinders chopped off...

it seems once manufacturers went to using horsepower rather than torque as a metric for a engines potential sound went down. All these high strung v6's sound like hollow tin cans or in the sake of the nissan VQ like they're underwater.

case in point in the early 2000's i built a bored out VR6. bored it to 3 liter, did head work, big valves and cams, built transmission and that to me is almost the last of the good sounds v6's. Granted the VR6 isnt much of a V at 15º
