There is a black butyl rubber gasket between the fiberglass shell and the cab as well as a bunch of 3M 5200 Marine chaulking. Then on the inside is a custom welded 1"x3" steel frame that is through bolted with 3/8" stainless steel care age bolts...sort of sandwiched the shell between the steel frame and the steel cab...

I got the back door rehung today with the new crank out windows.
I took it for a drive today (with no tail lights and did not get stopped) and it feels great! Not heavy or awkward... no weight issues at all. I think that the steel subfloor and camper shell and generator weigh about 900lbs... I probably took about 300 or so lbs out of the pickup with the cutout, back window, bed, fenders and tailgate... so estimated 600lbs added so far.
The camper project is on hold until after thanksgiving... I am taking my wife to Singapore for a week then we are scuba diving from a live aboard in the Maldives... have been looking forward to this trip.

Thanks shark! Amazingly the factory mirrors are wide enough.... it still drives like a pick up.

I have embraced the black and white scheme Toyko Joe... the camper will be off white with the black trimmed windows and some black graphics... I have a pair of black TRD Off-road 4x4 graphics for the sides..... and all the shiny anodized aluminum diamond plate below! It will be pretty sexy.

    This and that...
Some vintage stripes in black and gray would look clean too.

Well I just finished 6 pages of this hoping for a final picture show, only to find out now we have to wait for OP to get back from vacation. I guess after all this fabrication he deserves a break! Safe travels OP can not wait to see how this turns out.

Those are nice Voltron!... I am leaning towards simple but have some time to make the call... I want to get all the diamond plate installed and then make a call on paint and graphix...

Ok, that sounds like a valid excuse. I will let the updates slide for a while.

Enjoy the water and your vacation. I know I would not be on TW when I am on vacation!
