So I want to upsize my tires. I see a lot of people run 265/70/17 or 265/75/16. Other than not as many choices to choose from, why not look at 255/75/17? It's ~ 1/2" taller and 1/2" slimmer, and it's cheaper than 265's.

I have the TSS wheels which I think are +18 MM offset, which is close to the TRD pro wheels? Anyways they stick out just at the wheel well.
I'm putting on the Headstrong coils 2" lift with the 1/4" plate top spacer next weekend (to correct bro lean). They should fit OK I would think?
Anyone else run this setup? 255/75/17 with a 2-2.5" (on a 2nd gen) lift and have pics to share that would be awesome . Thanks

I ran that size some years ago, take off Jeep JK BFG's, killer deal on that tire since so many jeep guys upgraded.
I had good luck running that size, but eventually upsized to larger tires.

No reason not to. Most folks think bigger (wider) is better, but the real answer is 'it depends'.

Some around here are running 255 80 on OE wheels with no lift, no rubbing. The right wheel fitment and a bit narrower tire makes a lot of difference on clearance.

I currently run 255/75/17 with 3" lift and I'll be replacing them with another set that's the same size. I choose to go with that size tire for better snow performance. I drive through some nasty storms to go skiing when mother nature decides to grace us North easterners!

A lot of us run 255/75/17s and like them. Next time I'll go 255/80 though.

Those will be my next tire sizes when mine are due for a change. Pizza cutters FTW!

@JayMac is running 255/85/16's with no lift [yet], which is close to (if not the same as) the 255/75/17's, and she hasn't had any major issues.

No issues other than a slight rub that required a quick trim from @Bennett707. Love my pizza cutters. No regrets.

5100's all around, OME 887 with 1/4" spacer, icon 3 leaf aal. 255/75/17 BFG KM's on 4runner pro's. Rigid led pods. Debadged and tinted.
I think it's because everyone on here thinks they need 10 ply 285/70s and a 3" lift to drive to the mall. I'm running 255/75/17 Rubicon takeoffs and have no issues at stock height. My tires are 6 ply, a bit tougher than stock, not much heavier.

The only thing that makes me want to change tires, is my need for an a/t over an m/t. Tire selection/deals will determine if I stick with 255's or go to a 265 next go round.

Since my truck came new with 245s, I don't consider the 255s to be pizza cutters. 235 is what I think of when someone says pizza cutters. The 255s are plenty wide for general on and off road use. Maybe not the best for certain applications, but they handle well for most uses.

This is the size that I'm running in KO2's. I love them so far.

does anyone else running this size (255/75/17) on a stock suspension attest to rub-free running? i'm currently looking at this size to replace my stockers.

when i first got this truck I had them swap over my 255/80/17's and I ran them on my 1st gen tundra wheels and stock suspension for a couple of months until I got my lift. I didn't go off road with it then but didn't have a problem.

    Stock suspension

    3" lift

personally I love the tire size the only draw back I've found is they're only available in E ratings I believe

I know this is an old thread, but maybe someone is still watching. I have a 3" lift and I'm interested in BF MT 255/80/17 but I'm afraid they are going to rub and I don't want to do any trimming. Can someone confirm if they have a similar setup and if they had rubbing? Thanks

I’m running 255/75-17 on a stock suspension with no rubbing issues at all. I can’t imagine that size with that lift would have any problems.
