2011 54k miles off road. I accidentally flipped on the 4wd while parked, reversed out and noticed 4wd was on, tried to put it back into H2 and wouldn’t go back in. Tried putting it in H2 reversing and putting it in drive and nothing, tried putting it in L4 in neutral and nothing. Any ideas what it could be or I should do?

Rear diff cover looks a little greasy could it have engaged dry with no fluid and messed up the actuator?

Put the switch in 2wd, pull negative battery cable off for 5 minutes. reinstall cable and turn key to on.

Nope. It worked for me when my 4wd would not engage.

Not sure why you guys have such trouble getting stuck in or out of 4WD

Getting stuck in 2wd is expected from time to time. Getting stuck in 4wd = maximum effort!

    Alright OP,

If you're stuck in 4WD, your rear Diff has nothing to do with it. And, BTW, if it's leaking, it's oily not greasy :boink:

Your issue is most likely with the T-case or ADD actuators.

There's tons of info on the forum about this issue. A quick search will give you all the info you need

Can almost bet it’s an ADD prob.

Cycling the 4wd system a few times a month helps quite a bit.

Sorry guys false alarm, I pulled out the switch and it wasn’t plugged in, I must’ve forgotten to plug it in when I installed my stereo a few months ago, but it’s weird that it went into 4wd yesterday while it was unplugged. :smack:

Don't feel too bad OP. When I swapped the diffs in my truck, I forgot to put the stub shaft back in the new one. Even sent the core back to ECGS with the stub shaft still in it.

    These things happen
