IMG_3029.jpg IMG_3027.jpg IMG_3032.jpg IMG_1906.jpg IMG_3026.jpg Hey guys I am finally finished spraying my 00 Tacoma. Just wanted to give a little info on scorpion coatings bedliner(battleship grey)if anyone was intrested or curious. The cost for the 10 gallons was $800. I bought the truck from a friend and she was in need of a overhaul. I had to replace innner and out tie rod ends, ball joints, brakes front and rear, cv axles, rear catalytic converter sensor by urd, all body bolts with grade 8,radiator, belts, spark plugs, gauge cluster, leaf springs, front struts, all fluids, recharge ac, I am sure I am forgetting something. I wished I would have took pictures of before and after but I didn't . Anyways I have future plans of adding rock sliders, rear tire carrier and bumper, led lighting, headlights, taillights and a acourse a straight axle!!! The scorpion coatings was very easy to spray for the do it yourselfer. Prep work very important (and a pain in the my
A$$) clear was peeling off so I sanded it all off with 220. Then scuffed all edges with scotchbrite. I then used a nylon cup brush to scuff bed, the bed had a plastic liner in it so it was in great shape. Then i blew it off with air nozzle good. I then wiped it down twice with a wax and paint degreaser. Then you have to mix paint and 3 other chemicals together then pour into the spray gun. You only have 15-20 minutes before it hardens, so you have to go quickly. I sprayed mine at 40 psi and the gun control knob(how much product comes out) about half way out. Practice on something else first using a small text batch.I used 7 gallons on the entire truck inside bed outside body and camper shell. I plan on doing the floor boards and inside jams with the remainder of product. I also am going to spray a punisher skull on lower tailgate and hood. Overall the truck turned out well and looks great every time I stop somewhere people are asking me about it. Incase anyone ask about the fender flares they are made by husky called long johns I think. I cut them down the middle and used self tapping screws to hold them in place start in the middle top of each fender and work your way out. They are made out of some tuff crap. Wanted to go cheap and different on them. I added after painting warn sdb-210 dual beams lights ,warn mx8000 winch and Arb bumper and since truck already had a 3 inch body lift I had to cut up the mounts and make customs ones what a pain. Guys feel free to ask me any questions and I will answer best I can.

That's a great camper shell - I saw one just like it the other day on my way to work. I had to take a pic:

Great looking Truck and I love the color. I’ve been wanting to paint mine for a little while now because every time I wash it paint seems to peel off more and more. Did you have any trouble with the paint hardening in your spray rig and have to constantly clean out or were you able to get a good bit done?

Very easy sprayed the whole truck without any clean up. I did use the supplied mold release in the gun so maybe that is what helped it from sticking. Once the stuff dries in the gun you can just peel it out.The prep work was the worst part lol.

Prep work isn’t nearly as exciting as laying some paint! What kind of spray rig did you use? Every time I look at your pictures I like the color even more

I bought the kit from scorpion liners come with gun, mixer, paint and all the additives you need. I bought from Lowe’s some acetone, rags and tape other than that that’s all you need. The color is battleship grey they have that color available through scorpion.

That pain job looks cool. How does it hold up to the elements and is there any maintenance associated with that texture paint? I mean... how difficult is it to wax it or is that something that is not done with your type of paint job?

It is bedliner, it also has a uv protectant in it. Just pressure wash it when she needs a bath that’s it. Lifetime warranty against fading and peeling etc!!!

Nice, that CBI rear bumper is sweet. I got rid of my fiberglass topper very soon after buying my Taco, they're just so heavy and not easy or fun to repair when they start showing their age.
