My truck ticks, not sure if it's an exhaust leak or not but it has been doing it for around 16k miles. That hasn't done anything to effect anything as of yet, now cv axle wise i have grease everywhere and my steering has gotten stiffer from mud entering the joints.

As of everything, the mf'ing clamp that holds the exhaust right before the afr sensor will not stay in it's place, I've tightened it down twice and now it is rattling again. Also, not hindering the truck as of yet

Replaced both o2 and afr sensor when I first got it. At 160k I was okay with that, it's a mechanical part.

Just be glad you don't own a chevy

I've had my fair share of headaches with my truck over the past year and a half that I've owned it....bought it with 24k miles on it and currently at 57k.

1st real issue was a PO171 check engine light. Fortunately, it was still under the 30 day dealership warranty but they couldn't figure it out right away. Replaced spark plugs, wires, MAF, O2 and air/fuel sensors and finally figured out that it was a vacuum leak on the supercharger.

Lower ball joints started leaking so got those replaced.

New clutch put in because the throwout bearing on the OEM one was chirping like mad (new one is now, too).

Truck was running really lean because of the supercharger so I got the URD 7th injector kit installed (including new fuel pump and spark plugs)

Replaced the aftermarket e-fans with a fan clutch because the e-fans caused the truck to overheat.

Had to replace the catalytic converters due to a P0420 code.

....and probably a few other things I'm forgetting, lol.

But most of these things are due to the aftermarket components that the previous owner put on, and the rest are from the beating that my truck takes offroading every other weekend.

She's never once left me stranded anywhere so I'll give her that. I'd say 8/10 for mine.

I'm not saying it should last 300k+, but longer than suspension, for sure.

Also, def not an exhaust leak. I've checked. It's the top end of the engine. Just not sure where...

Don't get me started on chevys. Best part of owning a Chevy is selling it:bananadance:

Edit: I have also replaced both AFR and O2 sensors due to an engine code. Other than that, all the maintenance that wasn't done by PO. Fluids, plugs, brakes, suspension, timing belt, you know the drill.

    You're a 5vz?

I'm wondering what mine needs, I know my throw out bearing is chirping also. Like bad, but I'm either stuffing in an ls1 or turboing the 3rz, either way I'll have to tear everything out to do one or the other

And I can't talk to much on Chevy, my dad has 2.....old school but still

Yep, 5vzfe. I would only consider a Toyota v8 swap or a diesel. But chances are another 3.4. Truck needs to last a lifetime, so swap is inevitable once this motor goes.

But why rush things, she only has 130k on the clock:eek:

The throwout bearing chirp is just something I've learned to live with. It comes and goes, not worth replacing my clutch again with only 25k miles on it. Its incredibly unlikely that the TOB will actually fail (bad news if it does though).

I would like to keep it toyota, but i couldn't find an adapter plate for a stick shift behind the 1 uz and diesel is to heavy for what I plan to use mine. 1-2jz was finding a place for the intercooler with a plate bumper and winch.

Besides, full aluminum engine pushing out 305hp based off the well known 350 small block, parts are plentiful

True. Dealers tend to just throw parts at vehicles. You shouldn’t be going through 3 MAFs like that. Seems like something is causing the MAFs to go bad, or something else is causing the cylinder(s) to misfire.

My '03 2.7L just rolled past 270,000 miles. She's been the most reliable vehicle I've owned. I replaced the steering rack at 200,000 miles due to leaking & have had to replace a rear axle seal a few times because of leaks. The engine & transmission have had zeros issues.

I've put almost 70k miles on my '04 2.7l 4x4 in the 4 years I've owned it- 64k miles to 132k, and only done brakes and oil changes. By far the most reliable vehicle I've owned- she's not perfect and is due for a little preventive maintenance but starts every time, no matter how cold, and has easily handled everything I've put it through. Hoping as long as I treat her right, I can give it to my son in 16 years and he can have some adventures.

I drive a 2016 now, gave my 2001 to my son after 15 years. Gave it a 9, not a 10 because my blinker fluid is always low. Aside from replacing the norm, timing belt, some sensors, etc... The truck has been awesome, still is for my son. Only gave it up because my son needed something better to drive at age 18, because what we got him at age 16 was crap, or I would still be driving it.
The truck is completely stock, my 2016 is already getting mods:), used it for everything, camping/hockey trips/off road/etc... and never owned anything better in the snow! No regrets buying it!!! 220k miles later!!

    Front brakes (3rd set)
    2 trans fluid changes
    2 battery
    2 Trans changes
    2 air filters
    2 radiator fluid

Replaced at 185K miles- non routine:
I have also replaced ignition cylinder OEM.
I have replaced brake Master cylinder.
    New radiator
    New headlights

Upcoming things I need to do:

    1) Needs 02 sensors now. ($180)
    2) Needs rear drum pads (first time in 200K miles)
    3) Needs CATs replaced ($650)
4)My passenger door rear lock will eventually need replacing.

Its driven on a farm, 8 months of the year. City 4 months of the year. Bed has 600-700lbs of dates in it.

    A/C works
    No oil burn
    No leaks.

Stock trans. Stock motor. Stock suspension. Nothing else every touched. No accidents, no paintwork.

LOVE MY TRUCK - best American built automobile ever.

    @PROseur,

Yeah, I like that I can drive to where my truck was built (numi plant). I always liked to tease the domestic guys because their truck was probably built in mexico or canada.
